Electrophoresis - successful analytical method. Since the emergence of electrophoresis as an analytical method in the late thirties of the last century, an intensive research and development of its methodology and instrumentation has resulted in unique methods widely implemented in bioanalysis. Probably the most famous application of electrophoresis is the DNA sequencing of human genome in high-throughout electrophoretic instruments with hundreds of capillaries for fast parallel separations of DNA sequencing fragments. At present, other varieties of electrophoretic instrumentation are miniaturized to form powerful electrophoretic microfluidic devices with a practical importance not only for analytical chemists but also biologists and physicians.
