A mobile exhibition, German Science Train, which is organized by the Max Planck Society as part of the Year of Science 2009, takes the public on a research voyage! The idea is to show different aspects of science with an eye to the future. In 12 converted train cars, visitors can dive into different subjects: from cosmology to particle physics, nanotechnology and brain research to applied and industrial research in production, agriculture, energy, environment and mobility. CEFRES Platform and its new premises within the Czech Academy of Sciences were inaugurated on October 7-8, 2015. In 2015, theCAS built a brand newlibrary in order to hostCEFRES’smore than 6,000 volumes alongwith its teamand Prague’s Francophone readers. The new library was inaugurated during a ceremony in the presence of French Ambassador Jean-Pierre Asvazadourian, President of CAS Jiří Drahoš and Rector of Charles University Tomáš Zima. CEFRES (French Research Center in Humanities and Social Sciences) was founded in Prague in 1991 with the aim to restart scientific exchanges between France and Central Europe as the latter underwent major changes after the fall of communism. One of CEFRES’s tasks since then has been to build up a network of research teams between France, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. and Luděk Svoboda.
The International Year of Astronomy 2009 (IYA2009) celebrates not only Galileo Galilei’s innovative work in telescopic observational astronomy, but also the year that Johannes Kepler’s paradigm-setting work Astronomia Nova - which he wrote in Prague - was published. This, Kepler’s magnum opus contains the results of the astronomer’s ten year investigation of the motion of Mars and records the discovery of the first two of the three principles known as Kepler’s Laws of Planetary Motion. and Luděk Svoboda.
The Seventh Conference of the Czech Neuroscience Society together with the First Conference of the Slovak Society for Neuroscience was jointly convened in Prague November 1-4, 2009. The conference was held in conjunction with 7th International Stem School in Regenerative Medicine, which offered Ph.D. students and young researchers the opportunity to discuss with prominent scientists in the field of stem cell biology and regenerative medicine. Regenerative medicine stands at the forefront of current medical research as scientists seek to better understand regenerative abilities of our cells and tissues and to use these abilities to enable the rescue and repair of damaged tissue resulting from injury or disease. and Luděk Svoboda.
Dne 18. února 2015 převzal v sídle Akademie věd ČR na Národní třídě v Praze pamětní medaili Jana Patočky za zásluhy v humanitních vědách Adolf Filáček z Filosofického ústavu AV ČR, čestnou oborovou medaili Karla Engliše za zásluhy v sociálních a ekonomických vědách obdržel Václav Pavlíček z Ústavu státu a práva AV ČR a Právnické fakulty UK, čestnou oborovou medaili Františka Palackého za zásluhy v historických vědách Petr Sommer z Archeologického ústavu AV ČR, Praha, a Centra medievistických studií při Filosofickém ústavu AV ČR. Medaili Za zásluhy o Akademii věd ČR obdržela Drahoslava Vaníčková. O den později u příležitosti Kolokvia ÚMCH AV ČR 2015 obdržel čestnou oborovou medaili Jaroslava Heyrovského za zásluhy v chemických vědách prof.
