City bus with H2 fuel cells. Nuclear Research Institute has, together with their partners, developed, realised and operated hydrogen powered triple hybrid bus. The unique propulsion concept is focused on the efficient city transport with minimal energy consumption. There are 3 power sources: fuel cell which uses hydrogen (stored in pressure vessels on the roof) to create electricity, Li-ion accumulators and ultracapacitors. This system can recuperate energy during braking and use it when needed. Overall consumption is cca 8 kg H2/100 km, which in 1/3 of other pure hydrogen busses. The filling station delivers H2 in gaseous state, nominal pressure is 350 bar. It is open to public for other H2 vehicles.
