Autorin des einleitenden Konferenzbeitrags charakterisiert das Familienmilieu Doz. Dr. Drahomíra Stránskás und den Kreis ihrer nahen Verwandten die seit der 2. Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts durch ihre Interessen mit dem Studium und der Dokumentation der Volkskultur eng verbunden waren (J. Wankel, M. Wanklová). Nach dem Abschluß der slawischen Philologie an der Karls-Universität in Prag 1924 erhielt Drahomíra Stránská ein Stipendium des Königreichs Jugoslawien; dort lernte sie viele Rrepräsentanten der ethnographischen Forschung kennen und studierte die Volkskultur der Südslawen. Ihre erste Stelle erwarb sie im Museum für Volkskunde in Prag; sie wurde Kuratorin der volkskundlichen Sammlungen. Sie unternahm eine Reihe von Studienreisen in die Slowakei, sie sammelte und systematisch ergänzte die Museumssammlungen. 1932 habilitierte sie sich an der Karls-Universität und fing an, auch pädagogisch tätig zu sein, zuerst als externe Dozentin., In ihren Vorlesungen konzentrierte sie sich auf slawische Problematik, Volksgewand und-bauten. Durchgehend publizierte sie in renommierten Zeitschriften, arbeitete mit dem Slawischen Institut zusammen u. a. Sie gab "Příručka lidopisného pracovníka" (Handbuch des volkskundlichen Mitarbeiters) heraus, beteiligte sich an den Vorbereitungen des Ethnographischen Atlasses. Ihre Bibliographie aus der Zeit vor dem 2. Weltkrieg ist umfangreich und vielseitig. Am Ende der 30er Jahre veranstaltete sie zwei bedeutende, der Slowakei und Bulgarien gewidmete Ausstellungen, die einen außerordentlichen Widerhall fanden. Nach dem Kriegsende wurde sie Dozentin in Ethnographie; zwei Jahre früher erschien ihr Grundwerk "Lidový oděv v Československu, díl I., Čechy" (Die Volkstracht in der Tschechoslowakei, Teil I., Böhmen), das bis jetzt nicht überholt wurde. Ihre Abhandlung über Volksmöbel blieb im Manuskript. Die Ethnographin, deren 100. Geburtstag wir heute gedenken, war und auch nach ihrem Tod 1964 blieb eine der wichtigsten Persönlichkeiten der ethnographischen Forschung, Muselogie und Publizistik in tschechischen Ländern., and Článek zahrnuje seznam literatury.

Tato studie se zabývá zobrazováním alchymie v malbách, knižních ilustracích i v architektuře v období raného novověku. Na jednotlivých příkladech obrazů či ilustrací prezentuje různé aspekty alchymistova života i jeho práce. Nezabývá se symbolickou alchymickou ikonograf í, ale zaměří se především na zobrazování prostředí a vybavení alchymických dílen i osobností samotných alchymistů. Soustředí se zejména na vyobrazení zařízení alchymických laboratorií, s nimiž se lze setkat jak u renesančních malířů, tak v ilustracích alchymických rukopisů a poměrně ojediněle i v české architektuře. Poskytuje také pohled na vyobrazení vzniklá v souvislosti s literární kritikou alchymie. Alchymisté byli zejména v dílech předních evropských humanistů často záměrně zesměšňováni, kritizováni a označováni za blázny a zloděje. V závěru se zabývá vybranými příklady ze žánrového umění, kde byli rovněž alchymisté zobrazováni často satiricky, ale i s určitou úctou, jako vzdělaní učenci. Výtvarné umění raného novověku nám představuje různé aspekty života alchymistů a je v dnešní době jednou z možností, jak se přiblížit porozumění jejich vědeckým aktivitám. Jak však studie ukazuje, k těmto obrazovým materiálům je třeba přistupovat kriticky., This paper deals with the displaying of alchemy in paintings, illustrations and architecture in the Early Modern period. On each of the examples of paintings and illustrations the author presents various aspects of the alchemist’s life and his work. It does not deal with symbolic alchemical iconography, but rather with imaging of alchemical workshops, their equipment and of alchemists themselves. It focuses on depictions of furnishings of laboratories portrayed in renaissance pictures, in illustrated alchemical manuscripts and rarely even in architecture. It also provides an outlook of representations arising from literary criticism of alchemy. European humanists often criticized alchemists and presented them with ridicule as fools and thieves. Finally, it deals with some examples of genre works, where alchemists were of en satirically portrayed, but on the other hand with a certain respect, as educated scholars. Early Modern f ne art represents dif erent aspects of the alchemist’s life and of ers one of the ways to approach an understanding of their scientific activities. Far from the battlefront, hundreds of thousands of workers toiled in Bohemian factories over the course of World War I, and their lives were inescapably shaped by the conflict. In particular, they faced new and dramatic forms of material hardship that strained social ties and placed in sharp relief the most mundane aspects of daily life, such as when, what, and with whom to eat. This study reconstructs the experience of the Bohemian working class during the Great War through explorations of four basic spheres - food, labor, gender, and protest - that comprise a fascinating case study in early twentieth-century social history., and Rudolf Kučera.
