This paper presents a defi nition of Mikuszowice chert. Fourteen types of Mikuszowice chert have been identifi ed. These results are useful for identifying fl int artifacts in the Outer Carpathians. Mikuszowice chert artifacts have been identifi ed in inventories dated to different time periods from the Upper Paleolithic to Early/Older Bronze Age. At present, 39 sites with Mikuszowice chert are known. The most important of these sites is a complex of 8 sites in Jaworze. The chert artifacts occur within 100 km of their source.
