Er befindet sich im Stadtteil Friedrichstadt im ehemaligen Französischen Garten des Palais Brühl-Marcolini, dem heutigen Krankenhaus Friedrichstadt. Der Brunnen wurde ab 1744 durch Lorenzo Mattielli nach Plänen von Zacharias Longuelune errichtet.
Heinrich Magirius, Die Semperoper zu Dresden, Edition Leipzig, 2000; Daniel Jacob, Skulpturenführer Dresden, 2011. and Das von Gottfried Semper geschaffene 1. Opernhaus (das sogenannte Hoftheater) brannte 1865 ab, nach Sempers Plänen wurde von 1871-1878 ein neues Opernhaus (das zweite) errichtet. Gottfried Semper war allerdings zu dieser Zeit nicht mehr in Dreden, sein Sohn Manfred übernahm die Bauleitung. Auch das 2. Opernhaus wurde zerstört und brannte vollständig aus, diesmal durch die verheerenden Bombardements des zweiten Weltkriegs. Am 13. Februar 1985, genau 40 Jahre nach der Zerstörung, konnte das originalgetreu wiederaufgebaute (nunmehr dritte) Haus an dieser Stelle mit der Oper "Der Freischütz" wiedereröffnet werden. Die Dresdner "Semperoper" ist eines der schönsten Opernhäuser der Welt.
Villa Stockhausen (Lignerschloss) am Loschwitzer Elbufer, erbaut für den Baron von Stockhausen. Nach verschiedenen anderen Eigentümern übernahm 1906 der Fabrikant Karl August Lingner das Gebäude uns ließ von Wilhelm Kreis die Innenräume umgestalten. In der Nachkriegszeit wurde das Schloss zunächst als Studentenwohnheim genutzt, später als "Klub der Intelligenz".
