- Description:
- In the history of Czechoslovakia, "normalization" is the name given to the period from the 1969 to the 80´s. It was characterized by initial restoration of which was led by Alexander Dubček (1968-1969) and subsequent preservation of this new status quo. Normalization is sometimes used in a narrower sense to refer only to the period between 1969 and 1971. When Gustav Husák became the leader of the KSČ in place of Alexander Dubček in April 1969 after the military intervention of Warsaw Pact armies, his regime acted quickly to "normalize" the country´s political situation. and JIří Hoppe.

- Description:
Vedle textů trpících přemírou faktů, jejich pozitivistickým podáním, schematičností nebo absencí kontextu a analýzy vyzvedává několik velmi zdařilých statí z pera Petra A. Bílka, Petra Kopala, Kamila Činátla nebo Martina Štolla., The reviewer first discussess the great interest that Czechs, both experts and the general public, have had in recent years in the pop culture of the "Normalizaation" period (1969-89). This includes films and TV series, which constitute the focal point of most of the contributions to the publication under review, the fourth volume of the Film a dějiny (Film and history) series. But quantity, according to the reviewer, has taken its toll on quality here. Although the editor, Petr Kopal, has tried in the introduction to outline the starting points that unite the individual contributions, it is actually hard to see what they have in common, and, moreover, some reflect the confused directions and aims of the research. The reviewer presents some of the contributions in detail. Apart from articles that suffer from an excess of fact, positivistic treatment, schematicity, or a lack of context and analysis, the reviewer points to the highly successful essays by Petr A.
