V souvislosti s dalším směřováním Akademie věd ČR a diskusí, jak posílit její postavení ve výzkumném a vzdělávacím prostoru České republiky, se v Akademii věd výrazně prosazují nejrůznější popularizační aktivity. Vedle pořádání již etablovaných akcí zaměřených na propagaci vědy a výzkumu se AV ČR zasazuje o debatu, jak o dosažených výsledcích co nejúčinněji komunikovat s veřejností. This article features the Academy's cooperation with renowned scientific institutions in Germany, a country whose achievement in the field of science and technology has been significant. Some of the world's most prominent researchers in various scientific disciplines have come from that country. For most of 20th century, more Nobel Prizes in the sciences have been awarded to Germans than to scientists of any other nation. Scientific research in the country is supported by industry, universities and by scientific state-institutions such as the Max Planck Society or the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. The European Research Council (ERC), the first pan-European funding body set up to support investigator-driven frontier research, has been newly established to stimulate scientific excellence by supporting and encouraging the very best scientists, engineers and scholars. The ERC complements other funding activities in Europe such as those of national research funding agencies, and is a flagship component of the Ideas Programme of the European Union´s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).
