Kresba (33 x 20,8 cm): nalevo Aineiás (antická zbroj, meč) v pravici Palladium (Minerva se štítem a kopím), napravo císař Augustus (vavřínový věnec, antická zbroj), maršálskou hůl levici. Nahoře nalevo sedí žena (vavřínový věnec, dlouhé šaty), v rukou olivovou větvičku a knihu, lze ji vykládat jako Minervu (Verg. georg. 1, 18-19: Minervo, dárkyně oliv/Oleaque Minerva inventrix). Nahoře napravo sedí žena (dlouhé šaty, dvě trubky a palmová ratolest), patrně Fama., Kotalík 1982#, no. 76., Suerbaum 2008#, VP 1599., Fusenig 2010#, č. 92., and Návrh titulního listu pro vydání sebraných spisech Vergilia (Vergilius 1599), které vyšlo v Augsburku (srov. Praha, NK, Vergilius, frontispice). Jako vzor pro kontrastní pár Aenea a Augusta Aachenovi posloužila Raffaelova freska "Athénské školy", v níž idealisticky orientovaný Platón ukazuje nahoru (vzor pro Aenea) a materialisticky zaměřený Aristotelés ukazuje dolů (vzor pro Augusta).
Olej na mědi (24 x 32 cm): Faun (kozí nohy, věnec, kůže přes ramena) hraje na syrinx a pozoruje nahou Nymfu, které její družka rozčesává vlasy hřebenem. Nalevo ověnčený Faun drží kozu tak, aby chlapec mohl pít mléko z jejího vemene. Napravo Faun nalévá z měchu do picího rohu Nymfě, kterou objímá Faun, uprostřed vzadu nese Faun Nymfu na zádech přes potok. Výjev se odehrává u potoka na lesním palouku, v poadí dům., Fučíková 1997#, I/36., and Výjev neilustruje žádný konkrétní mýtus, ale evokuje idylický život Faunů a Nymf, kteří žijí ve shodě navzájem i s přírodou, s níž dokonale souzní.
Mědiryt podle B. Sprangera (67, 8 x 49, 8 cm): tři nahé Múzy malířství, sochařství a architektury - Pictura (paleta se štětci), Sculptura (soška, odpichovátko), Architectura (úhelník, plán, odpichovátko). Za Múzami je skrytý beran, o kterého se zády opírají. Múzy se jednou rukou navzájem objímají, druhou se drží levice Famy (křídla, trumpeta), která je za troubení vynáší k bohům na nebesa. Olympští bohové sedí na oblaku vlevo nahoře. Uprostřed je Jupiter (křídlený blesk, orel) s rysy císaře Rudolfa II., který na Múzy ukazuje nataženou levicí. Múzy Jupiterovi gesty doporučuje nalevo Minerva (zbroj, štít) a napravo Merkur (caduceus). Za Merkurem sedí Neptun (trojzubec), mezi Merurem a Jupiterem lze rozeznat Pluta (dvojzubec) a Saturna (kosa). Pod Múzami Amor (luk a toulec) s vavřínovým věncem ve zdvižené pravici, za ním palmový list. Amorova levá ruka spočívá na znaku Antverp, kterým Spranger obraz věnoval. Amor sedí na oblačném sloupu, který vynáší Múzy na nebe, v něm hlava Zefyra foukajícího na Múzy. Napravo je přímořská krajina, v popředí triumfální oblouk s císařským znakem, před nímž je shromáždění, v jehož čele stojí císař a papež, nalevo je vedle sebe císařský prapor (dvouhlavý orel) a prapor papežský (tiára s klíči), napravo jsou prapory habsburských zemí. Papež a císař pozorují umělce při práci, malíře, sochaře a architekta. Malíř na rozměrné plátno maluje antikou inspirované téma, Victorii s věncem, po antickém způsobu je nahý. Sochař tvoří rovněž antikizující dílo, sochu říčního božstva (vedle socha sfingy a antické mužské torzo), na vítězném oblouku stojí architekt a řídí stavbu tyčící se u levého okraje obrazu. Architekt stojí u žebříku vedoucího na novostavbu, na jejíž střeše pracují zedníci. Architektonické pojetí stavby je renesanční (okno rámované antikizujícími pilastry). Zatímco oblak s olympskými bohy i skupina s umělci vlevo dole jsou osvětleny zářivými nebeskými paprsky, pravá polovina obrazu tone v temnotě, v níž je turecké vojsko (turbany, kaftany, turecké standarty a praporce). Turek v poředí právě vystřelil šíp na Múzy. Spranger k dílu vytvořil tři přípravné kresby (Mnichov, Staatliche Graphische Sammlung inv. 2195, 13696 a 13764) ., Fučíková 1997#, I/328, and Alegorický výjev je oslavou renesance a římského císařství jakožto záštity kultury a evropské civilizace, kterou chrání před barbary. Politický aspekt výjevu je naznačen fyziognomií Jupitera (císař Rudolfa II.) a beranem za Múzami odkazujícím na habsburský řád zlatého rouna (symbol boje proti nepřátelům křesťanství). Zcela jednoznačně je politický charakter alegorie vyjádřen císařskými vlajkami a císařským znakem na vítězném oblouku. Císařská vlajka je navíc nad vlajkou papežskou, čímž byl císař oslaven jako ochránce křesťanství, což bylo velice aktuální téma vzhledem k turecké hrozbě. Tento výklad se opírá o rytinu a doprovodnou báseň, která vychází z klasicistní triády: rozkvět umění v antickém Řecku (Hellada a Lysippos), úpadek v důsledku invaze barbarů, která zasáhla i Evropu a znovuzrození pod záštitou Jupitera, tedy návrat k antické velkoleposti. To je na obraze naznačeno tím, že všichni umělci tvoří antikou inspirovaná díla. Malíř je navíc po antickém způsobu nahý, architekt řídí novostavbu inspirovanou antikou ze střechy antického římského vítězného oblouku (doslovně stojí na antických základech evropské kulturu). Sochař má vedle sochy, na které právě pracuje, antickou sochu (patrně slavné Torso Belvedere) a egyptskou sfingu (egytptská inspirace antického řeckého sochařství byla antickými autory všeobecně uznávána). Trojice Múz je rovněř pojata na antický způsob a evokuje slavné antické sousoší tří Grácií. Sprangerova alegorie je tedy oslavou císařství, konkrétně Rudolfa II., jako obnovitele kultury antického Řecka a Říma.

Nahoře nalevo sedí žena (vavřínový věnec, dlouhé šaty), v rukou olivovou větvičku a knihu, lze ji vykládat jako Minervu (Verg. georg. 1, 18-19: Minervo, dárkyně oliv/Oleaque Minerva inventrix). Nahoře napravo sedí žena (dlouhé šaty, dvě trubky a palmová ratolest), patrně Fama., Kotalík 1982#, no. 76., Suerbaum 2008#, VP 1599., Fusenig 2010#, č. 93., and Titulní list a mapa podle návrhu Hanse von Aachen v sebraných spisech Vergilia (Vergilius 1599), Zpěvy pastýřské, Zpěvy rolnické a Aeneis. Kniha vyšla v Augšpurku u Johanna Pretoria (tiskař Domenicus Custos). Custos Aachenův návrh doplnil o portrét básníka v medailonu nahoře a mapu Augšpurku dole. Titulní list je nejstarší příklad "oltářového typu", který byl v 17. století velmi oblíbený ve vydáních Vergilia. Mapa viz: Praha, NK, Aachen, Vergilius, mapa. Editorem díla byl Jezuita Jacobus Spannmüller zv. Pontanus z Mostu (odtud přízvisko). Jeho edice Vergilia je považována za vyvrcholení renesančního vergiliovského bádání, je opatřeno bohatým poznámkovým materiálem a prozaickým převyprávěním Aeneidy. Pontanus napsal také ve své době nejobšírnější dílo o poetice (Pontanus 1600), o němž se předpokládá, že ovlivnilo Aachenovy názory na umění. Na vazbu mezi Aachenem a Pontanem ukazuje skutečnost, že Pontanovo dílo bylo jedinou knihou, na níž Aachen spolupracoval. Aachenova kresba k titulnímu listu se dochovala (srov. Göttingen, Vergilius, návrh frontispice).
