The Academy Assembly held its XLII"d Meeting December 13, 2012 in the Municipal House in Vinohrady. It is the supreme self-governing body of the Academy of Sciences responsible for the foremost priority decisions related to the ASCR. By a secret ballot. the Academy Council (executive body of the ASCR) and Council for Sciences (the ASCRS policy body) were elected by the Academy Assembly for the period 2013-2017. and Luděk Svoboda.
The 38th International Conference on Current Trends in Theory and Practice of Computer Science was held in Špindlerův Mlýn on January 21–27, 2012. SOFSEM (SOFtware SEMinar) is the annual international winter conference devoted to the theory and practice of computer science. Its aim is to present the latest developments in research for professionals from academia and industry, working in leading areas of computer science. In memory of Alan Turing, whose 100th anniversary is being observed during 2012, SOFSEM 2012 hosted a session on Turing machines. This session consisted of invited and contributed talks on Turing machines as the basic model of computability and complexity. SOFSEM 2012 was among the official Centenary Events of The Alan Turing Year. and Martin Řimnáč.
The Academy Assembly, the Academy of Science´s highest body responsible for the highest priority decisions related to the ASCR, held its XXXIX meeting on December 16, 2011. Among invited guests were Petr Fiala, the Prime Minister´s Chief Science Advisor; Karel Pospíšil, Head of Board of Public Applied Research Institutions; Václav Pačes, President of the Learned Society of the Czech Republic; Rudolf Zahradník, Honorary President of the ASCR; Helena Illnerová, former President of the ASCR; Václav Hampl, Rector of Charles University of Prague; Přemysl Sobotka, First Vice-President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, and Vladimír Haasz, Vice-Chairperson of the R&D Council of the Czech Republic, and others. The main agenda item of this meeting was discussion the results of the Evaluation of Academy Instituties. and Jiří Drahoš.
