Blatenka severní (Catascopia occulta) byla popsána v rámci druhového komplexu Stagnicola palustris až v roce 1959 a do samostatného rodu vyčleněna v roce 2002. V České republice byla až donedávna známa jediná lokalita jejího výskytu – zemědělskou krajinou izolovaná periodická tůňka Podmokří u Koles nedaleko Labe. Až v roce 2008 se potvrdil výskyt blatenky severní i na jedné lokalitě v lužním lese u soutoku řek Dyje a Morava. and The air-breathing freshwater snail Catascopia occulta was described in the revision of the Stagnicola palustris species complex as late as 1959 and since 2002 it has been regarded as a separate genus. Until recently the only known locality in the Czech Republic was the small periodic Podmokří pool, isolated by adjacent farmland and located near the village of Kolesa in the Elbe River Basin (East Bohemia). In 2008 C. occulta occurrence was discovered in a floodplain river forest near the confluence of the Morava and Dyje/Thaya Rivers (South Moravia).
