(Summary) The functional conditions referring the anomalous potential have been worked out by the integral formula of Green. The value of the functionals over the continental areas has been calculated by the measured values of the gravity anomaly and the components of deflection of the vertical or of the geopotential number and for ocean areas by the measured values of the gravity disturbance or of the boundary values of the potential. The functional problem has been reduced to the restoration of the
finite-dimensional and unique geopotential which satisties the functional cxonditions best /in least-squares sense/. The discretisation of the functional could be carried out by means of a complete system of expansion unorthogonal functions. By the preliminary orthonormalization of this system the problem has been reduced to a system of linear equations, referring the coeficients of Fourier in the expansion of the potential. We propose four spherical solutions of the altimetry-gravimetry boundary problem by a discrete description and two in a closed form by a generalisation of the function of Stokes and Neumann /Hotine kernel/.
This article informs about an album amicorum of Pavel of Jizbice which is bound into an old edition in the holdings of the National Library of the Czech Republic in Prague and has been found recently. Th e humanistic poet Pavel of Jizbice used it at the time of his studies in Annaberg. Th e album contains fi rst of all records by his fellow-students. Latin and Greek of their records which are transliterated in the article is directly proportional to the erudition level of those days.
Alcohol abuse during pregnancy is a well-known factor in fetal morbidity, including smaller fetal size. We have shown that chronic hypoxia, considered the main pathogenetic factor in intrauterine growth restriction, elevates fetoplacental vascular resistance (and vasoconstrictor reactivity) and thus, presumably, reduces placental blood flow. We thus hypothesized that alcohol may affect the fetus - in addition to other mechanisms - by altering fetoplacental vascular resistance and/or reactivity. Using isolated, double-perfused rat placenta model, we found that maternal alcohol intake in the last third of gestation doubled the vasoconstrictor responses to angiotensin II but did not affect resting vascular resistance. Reactivity to acute hypoxic challenges was unchanged. Chronic maternal alcohol intake in a rat model alters fetoplacental vasculature reactivity; nevertheless, these changes do not appear as serious as other detrimental effects of alcohol on the fetus., V. Aldosterone plays a key role in maintaining the homeostasis of the whole organism. Under some circumstances, aldosterone can contribute to the progression of cardiovascular diseases, including coronary artery disease. This study demonstrates that aldosterone associates negatively with some lipidogram parameters and positively with the concentration of homocysteine. These associations are characteristic for coronary artery disease and are not present in control subjects. The findings also indicate that in vitro aldosterone stimulates homocysteine production by rat adrenal glands, which may explain the associations observed with coronary artery disease. Moreover, we have found that aldosterone significantly modulates in vitro platelet reactivity to arachidonate and collagen - aldosterone increases the pro-aggregatory action of collagen, but decreases the pro-aggregatory potential of arachidonate.
