Proces československé kolektivizace zachytili historici v uplynulém čtvrtstoletí již z mnoha úhlů a zmapovali jej v četných detailech, autoři k němu ale přistoupili jinak, když ve společné práci pohlížejí na přeměny československého venkova v padesátých a šedesátých letech minulého století prizmatem jejich uměleckého zpracování v dílech tehdejších filmařů. Zachytili přitom pozoruhodný vývoj ve způsobu zobrazování tématu od prvoplánových ideologických agitek natáčených v prvních letech po komunistickém převratu po vícevrstevnatá umělecká pozdějších šedesátých let, do nichž tvůrci vkládali kritickou reflexi nedávné minulosti a jimiž se snažili řešit etické otázky přítomné doby. The authors of the volume under review, however, approach the topic differently, considering changes in rural Czechoslovakia in the 1950s and 1960s as they were portrayed by film-makers. The authors consider the remarkable developments in the portrayal of the topic, from primarily ideological propaganda filmed in the early years after the Communist takeover to the many-layered artistic works of the later 1960s, in which film-makers also incorporated criticism of the recent past and tried to consider ethical questions of their times. The article deals with the union catalogue of incunabula, which began to be created during the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. In the 1950s and 1960s, the long-term head of the manuscript department of the present-day National Library Emma Urbánková was trying to complete it, but it was eventually not published in print. This article focuses on military handbooks from the first half of the 17th century placed in the collections of the Military History Institute Prague. In the introduction, it summarises the history and structure of the collection of early printed books in the library under study. After that, it characterises the set of the handbooks i.a. in terms of their topic, the language and the publisher’s provenance, as well as format. Its main aim is to analyse the frontispieces and engraved title pages of these publications with regard to the iconographic motifs that are usually depicted on them.
