New spectral absorption photometry methods are introduced to estimate chlorophyll (Chl) content of corn leaves by smart phones. The first method acquires light passing through a leaf by smartphone camera, compensating for differences in illumination conditions. In order to improve performance of the method, spectral absorption photometry (SAP) with background illumination has been considered as well. Data were acquired by smartphone camera in Iowa State University maize fields. Various indices were extracted and their correlation with Chl content were examined by Minolta SPAD-502. Hue index in SAP reached R2 value of 0.59. However, with light-aided SAP (LASAP), R2 of 0.97 was obtained. Among traits, the vegetation index gave the most accurate indication. We can conclude that the high performance of LASAP method for estimating Chl content, leads to new opportunities offered by smart phones at much lower cost. The objective of this study is to apply an unsupervised neural network tool to analyze fraudulent financial reporting (FFR) by extracting distinguishing features from samples of groups of companies and converting them into useful information for FFR detection. This methodology can be used as a decision support tool to help build an FFR identification model or other financial fraud or financial distress scenarios. The three stages of the proposed quantitative analysis approach are as follows: the data-preprocessing stage; the clustering stage, which uses an unsupervised neural network tool known as a growing hierarchical self-organizing map (GHSOM) to cluster sample observations into subgroups with hierarchical relationships; and the feature-extraction stage, which uncovers common features of each subgroup via principle component analysis. This study uses the hierarchal topology mapping ability of a GHSOM to cluster financial data, and it adopts principal component analysis to determine common embedded features and fraud patterns. The results show that the proposed three-stage approach is helpful in revealing embedded features and fraud patterns, using a set of significant explanatory financial indicators and the proportion of fraud. The revealed features can be used to distinguish distinctive groups.
Image data and 3D model data have emerged as resourceful foundation for information with proliferation of image capturing devices and social media. In this paper, a feature matching method based on hash binary encoding for multi-view 3D models in social media is proposed. SIFT algorithm is first used to extract features of the depth image, and then RANSAC is utilized as a filter. Finally, a cascade hash binary encoding algorithm is adapted to match the feature of multi-view models. Experimental results on SHREC2014 dataset have shown the effectiveness of the proposed method.

The nematode Philometra rubra (Leidy, 1856) (Philometridae) is redescribed from subgravid females found in the abdominal cavity of the fish Morone saxatilis (Walbaum) from South Carolina, USA in November 2008. The species is characterized by the presence of 14 cephalic papillae arranged in two circles, a relatively long oesophagus with a distinct anterior inflation, and well-developed papilla-like caudal projections. Cephalic papillae of the external circle differ from those in other congeners in that the dorso-lateral and ventro-lateral papillae are large, dome-shaped, whereas the dorso-dorsal and ventro-ventral papillae are small.
Building on historical narrative and social-theoretical analysis, Fraser explores the place of second-wave feminism in relation to three specific moments in the history of capitalism. The first point refers to the movement’s beginnings in the context of ‘state-organized capitalism’. The second point refers to the process of feminism’s evolution in the dramatically changed social context of rising neoliberalism. And the third point refers to a possible reorientation of feminism in the present context of capitalist crisis and US political realignment, which for her could mark the beginning of a shift from neoliberalism to a new form of social organization. Orienting her analysis around four key points of feminist critique-androcentrism, economism, étatism and Westphalianism-Fraser charts a fascinating journey of second-wave feminism since the 1960s to identify a “dangerous liaison” second-wave feminism developed with capitalism.
