202. Heliconema anguillae Yamaguti, 1935, a physalopterid nematode found in Japanese eels: taxonomic resurrection with a note on the third-stage larva from intertidal crabs in western Japan

- A parasitic nematode from the stomach of Japanese eel Anguilla japonica Temminck et Schlegel in western Japan, previously identified as Heliconema longissimum (Ortlepp, 1922), was morphologically re-examined and compared with the previous descriptions. In addition, the third-stage larva of this nematode is described, based on the specimens of encapsuled larvae found in musculature of two crabs, Hemigrapsus sp. and Perisesarma bidens (De Haan), caught from the upper-intertidal zone of the same locality. As a result of the morphological observation, seven pairs of postcloacal papillae in adult males are confirmed. This matches with the character of H. longissimum, but the shape of the fifth postcloacal papillae differs between the present material and H. longissimum; the former possesses pedunculate papillae in the fifth pair whereas the latter has sessile papillae. Since the pedunculate papillae can be found in the original description and the syntype specimens of H. anguillae Yamaguti, 1935 that has been synonymised with H. longissimum, we thus here resurrect H. anguillae as an accepted species. - The present study is the first survey on the role of Artemia franciscana Kellogg as intermediate host of helminth parasites in its native geographical range in North America (previous studies have recorded nine cestode and one nematode species from this host in its invasive habitats in the Western Mediterranean). Samples of Artemia franciscana were collected from four sites in the Great Salt Lake (GSL), Utah, across several months (June-September 2009). A. franciscana serves as intermediate host of five helminth species in this lake. Four of them are cestodes: three hymenolepidids, i.e. Confluaria podicipina (Szymanski, 1905) (adults parasitic in grebes), Hymenolepis (sensu lato) californicus Young, 1950 (adults parasitic in gulls), Wardium sp. (definitive host unknown, probably charadriiform birds), and one dilepidid, Fuhrmannolepis averini Spassky et Yurpalova, 1967 (adults parasitic in phalaropes). In addition, an unidentified nematode of the family Acuariidae was recorded. Confluaria podicipina is the most prevalent and abundant parasite at all sampling sites, followed by H. (s. l.) californicus. The species composition of the parasites and the spatial variations in their prevalence and abundance reflect the abundance and distribution of aquatic birds serving as their definitive hosts. The temporal dynamics of the overall helminth infections exhibits the highest prevalence in the last month of study at each site (August or September). This native population of A. franciscana from GSL is characterised with higher prevalence, intensity and abundance of the overall cestode infection compared to the introduced populations of this species in the Palaearctic Region. The values of the infection descriptors in the native population of A. franciscana are slightly lower or in some cases similar to those of the Palaearctic species Artemia parthenogenetica Barigozzi (diploid populations) and Artemia salina (Linnaeus) in their native habitats., Stella Redón, Nicole J. - Infantilní hemangiomy jsou nejčastějšími benigními vaskulárními nádory novorozeneckého a kojeneckého věku. Jedná se o nádory s velmi dobrou prognózou. Většina infantilních hemangiomů spontánně zcela regreduje v prvních deseti letech života. Jen deset procent infantilních hemangiomů vyžaduje nějakou terapii. V současné době je preferováno použití b-blokátoru propranololu. Ostatní typy benigních cévních nádorů je zapotřebí diferenciálně diagnosticky odlišit pro zahájení vhodné terapie a určení prognózy. Předložený článek shrnuje základní poznatky o hemangiomech u novorozenců. V závěru článku je zmíněna krátká kazuistika, kdy byla léčba rozsáhlého hemangiomu zahajována po konzultacích na našem pracovišti za kontroly kardiology., Infantile hemangiomas are the most common benign vascular tumors of neonatal and infancy. These are tumors with a good prognosis. Most infantile hemangiomas spontaneously regress completely in the first decade of life. Only ten percent of infantile hemangiomas require some therapy. Currently it is preferred to use b-blocker propranolol. Other types of benign vascular tumors are needed to distinguish the differential diagnosis for initiation of appropriate therapy and prognosis. The present article summarizes the main findings of hemangiomas in infants. Sdělení diagnózy nádor ového onemocnění je pro pacienta těžko pochopitelné a může u něj spustit silné emočn í reakce. V tomto náročném období je sociální opora – přátelé, rodina či partner/ka – dů ležitější a stávají se zdrojem jistoty a spokojenosti. Výzkum se zaměřuje na zjištění výsk ytu úzkosti a deprese u pacientů s kolorektálním karcinomem a zjištění vlivu sociáln í opory na výskyt deprese a úzkosti u těchto pacientů. Byl použit kvantitativní výzkum využívající ex-post facto výzkumný design. Ke sběru dat byly použity tři standardizova né dotazníky: PSSS, BDI-II., BIA. Soubor respondentů tvořilo 113 respondentů – 55 pac ientů proktologické ambulance a 58 respondentů kontrolního souboru. Získávání dat prob ěhlo v roce 2012–2013. Z výsledků vyplynulo, že se vzrůstající mírou sociální opory k lesá míra úzkosti (r = − 0,899) i míra deprese (r = − 0,910). Sociální opora tak byla potv rzena jako významný protektivní faktor zdraví. Dobrá sociální opora je významný fak tor vedoucí ke snížení úzkosti a deprese u onkologických pacientů, a tím přispívá ke zlepšení průběhu nemoci., Number of malignant diseases has been increasing wo rldwide. The situation is similar in the Czech Republic, which seen from the epidemiolog ic perspective belongs among countries with the highest incidence in Europe. For the patients, it is difficult to grasp the diagnosis of malignant disease and may trigger stro ng emotional reactions. The aim focuses on establishing the rate of anxiety and dep ression in patients with colorectal cancer and to determine the effect of social suppor t on the prevalence of anxiety and depression in these patients. A quantitative resear ch was used, using ex-post facto research design. Three standardised questionnaires were used to collect data: PSSS, BDI-II. The research group comprised of 113 respond ents – 55 clients of proctological outpatient surgery and 58 respondents in the contro l group. The data were gathered in 2012-2013. The results indicate that with the highe r level of social support, the lower degree of anxiety (r = − 0,899) as well as depressi on. (r = − 0,910). Thus, social support was confirmed as a significant health-protective fa ctor. - Health Technology Assessment (HTA) denotes a process (resp. a study), the objective of which is to get an idea about clinical, economic and ethical aspects of a health technology, including its effect to the quality of life, and a consequent assessment. The output of this process is compiled under strict methodological conditions, and it has only a character of recommendation. Abroad, HTA is intensely used above all to complex comparing two (or several) technologies. When the origin of HTA goes back to 1960 ́s and 1970 ́s, the first information appeared in the Czech Republic in the beginning of this millennium. No Czech institution is a member of international organizations INEHTA and HTAi, which makes any access to foreign know- how more difficult. Although no complex study has been probably produced in the Czech Republic, some efforts to a larger utilization of HTA methods can be seen, above all in pharmacoeconomics. - Myxobolus filamentum sp. n. was found infecting gill filaments of three of 39 Brycon orthotaenia Günther specimens examined (8%), which were taken from the river São Francisco in Minas Gerais state, Brazil. Plasmodia of the parasite were white and long, measuring 5 mm in lenght. Mature spores of M. filamentum sp. n. were oval from the frontal view and biconvex from the lateral view, measuring 7.5-9.7 µm (9.0 ± 0.3 µm) in length and 5.2-7.3 µm (6.2 ± 0.4 µm) in width. The polar capsules were elongated and equal in size, measuring 3.8-5.5 µm (4.7 ± 0.3 µm) in length and 1.3-2.2 µm (1.7 ± 0.1 µm) in width. The development of the parasite led to compression of the adjacent tissues and inflammatory infiltrate with granulocytic cells. Ultrastructural observation revealed that the plasmodia were delimited by two membranes, which had numerous and extensive pinocytotic channels extending into the wide ectoplasm zone. The plasmodial wall exhibited abundant villi-like projections and a thin layer of granular material prevented direct contact between the plasmodial wall and the host tissue. Phylogenetic analysis, based on 18S rDNA, showed M. filamentum sp. n. as a sister species of Myxobolus oliveirai Milanin, Eiras, Arana, Maia, Alves, Silva, Carriero, Ceccarelli et Adriano, 2010, a parasite of other fish species of the genus Brycon Müller et Troschel from South America., Juliana Naldoni, Suellen A.
