The article focuses on the conception of absolute idealism elaborated by Czech Hegelian František Sedlák. First, Max Stirner’s position of egoism is presented, as Sedlák was influenced by his critique of the conceptual vertical, i.e. of the subsumption of the individual under abstractions. Second, it examines how Sedlák employed such critique in resolving the so-called “paradox of authority.” Third, it sketches both Sedlák’s reception and critique of Tolstoyanism, at whose conceptual core he encountered a problem associated with conception of abstract morality, which he criticized at first from the standpoint of Stirnerian egoism, later from the standpoint of Hegelian absolute idealism. Finally, Sedlák’s conception of absolute idealism as a philosophy of existence is reconstructed. and Článek se zabývá koncepcí absolutního idealismu českého hegeliána Františka Sedláka. Nejprve je představeno stanovisko egoismu Maxe Stirnera, neboť Sedláka ovlivnila jeho kritika konceptuální vertikály, tj. podřízenosti individua abstrakcím. Ve druhém kroku autor sleduje, jak Sedlák tuto kritiku využívá při řešení tzv. „paradoxu autority“. Následně je přiblížen Sedlákův příklon k tolstojovství, v jehož jádru však Sedlák záhy naráží na obtíže související s tolstojovským pojetím abstraktní morality. Sedlák s ním polemizuje nejprve ze stanoviska stirnerovského egoismu, později absolutního idealismu a hegeliánství. V závěrečném kroku je nakonec představena Sedlákova koncepce absolutního idealismu jako filosofie existence.
This article discussed a number of aspects and characteristics of Skála's work which demonstrate the artist's fundamental concerns with nature and historicity. I explored how these concerns are manifest in Skála's creation of highly auratic objects, of objects charged with significance within the artist's own personal history, and more generally with historical connotations that pertain to the history of art and the natural sciences. Although Skála works with artificial materials, a central feature of his oeuvre is the erasure of difference between the natural and the cultural. It is this erasure that I discussed here in the context of Skála's romantic engagement in the natural world, as well as arguing for the importance of broader influences on his work, such as natural history and the representation and perception of nature in various historical epochs. With characteristic paradox, Skála's work can be seen as both profoundly and superficially engaged in the exploration and evocation of historicity. This is typified by his explicitly stylised allusions to romanticism, but it is more generally apparent in his consistent return to nature as the ultimate signifier of history; whether personal, folkloric, or artistic. As well as Skála's well-documented romantic tendencies, I showed the ways in which his work might relate to surrealism: a far more awkward art historical label that does not sit comfortably with Skála himself. Rather than simply discuss his works in relation to the ubiquitous found object of surrealism, I explored how Skála's 'feeling for nature,' for the resemblances of nature, and for the play between the classifications of the natural and the cultural, open up other routes into his work and into the complex network of associations that it constructs. and Článek pojednává o aspektech a charakteristických rysech Skálova díla, které ukazují umělcovy základní zájmy o přírodu a historičnost. Sleduje, jak se tyto zájmy projevují ve Skálově tvorbě navýsost auratických objektů, objektů naplněných významem v umělcově vlastní osobní historii a obecněji také historickými konotacemi, které se týkají dějin umění a přírodních věd. Ačkoliv Skála pracuje s umělými materiály, hlavním rysem jeho díla je smazávání rozdílu mezi přírodním a kulturním. Článek se zabývá tímto postupem v kontextu Skálova romantického zaujetí světem přírody a také předkládá důvody pro to, jak důležité jsou širší vlivy na jeho dílo, jako například přírodopis nebo zobrazení a vnímání přírody v různých historických epochách. S charakteristickým smyslem pro paradox Skála zkoumá a evokuje historičnost jak v hloubce, tak na povrchu. To je znázorněno výslovně stylizovanými odkazy na romantismus, ale je to ještě mnohem obecněji zjevné v důsledném návratu k přírodě jako k poslednímu signifier historie; ať osobní, folklórní nebo umělecké. Článek kromě již dobře doložených romantických tendencí věnuje způsobům, jakými by mohlo Skálovo dílo souviset se surrealismem, od něhož se autor sám distancuje. Ukazuje se, že než pouze pojednávat o jeho pracích ve vztahu k všudypřítomnému surrealistickému nalezenému objektu je výstižnější zkoumat Skálův "pocit přírody", cit pro přírodní podoby a pro hru s klasifikacemi přírodního a kulturního a nalézat jiné cesty k jeho dílu a do spletité sítě vzniklých asociací.
