Jan Randák referuje o náplni Letní školy soudobých dějin, která se v červnu 2010 již potřetí konala v Praze ve spolupráci Střediska společných činností Akademie věd ČR, v. v. i., a Ústavu českých dějin Filozofické fakulty Univerzity Karlovy. Akce, určená pro učitele základních a středních škol, sestávala z referátů odborníků na soudobé dějiny, promítání filmu a návštěvy muzea a byla přijata se zájmem. and Jan Randák reports on the Summer School of Contemporary History, which was held in Prague, for the third time. It was organized in collaboration with the Centre for the Administration and Operations of the Czech Academy of Science and the Institute of Czech History at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. Intended for teachers at primary and secondary schools, and comprising film screenings, museum visits, and papers delivered by experts on contemporary history, the programme met with great interest.
Prague Congress Centre hosted recently more than 460 scientists from 47 countries, which have taken part in third SPiE Europe Symposium on Optics and Optoelectronics (20-23 April 2009). They answered to the invitation, and the most important optical event ever organised in the Czech Republic has been born. The excellent and exciting plenary talks on Hot topics in Optics were followed by successful ten conferences on Metamaterials, Nonlinear optics and Applications, Photon Counting applications, Quantum optics and Quantum Cryptography, Adaptive optics for Laser Systems and Other Applications, Optical Sensors, Damage to VuV, EuV and X-Ray Optics, Photonic Crystal Fibers, Holography. The importance of the Symposium was enhanced by presence of SPiE President Prof. Maria Yzuel.
