První skupinka zleva - múza a Orfeus hrající zvířatům (múza v drapérii, na hlavě koruna, opírá se levou rukou o oltář s knihami, drží v ruce dvě trumpety, na pravé ruce má navlečeny dva vavřínové věnce, třetí drží v natažené ruce, na zemi kniha, Orfeus sedí, hraje na lyru, u jeho pravé nohy sedí zvíře). Druhý reliéf: žena v drapérii, v pravici drží rozvinutý svitek, opírá se o oltář s knihami, v levé ruce drží blesky, před ženou na zemi kniha a helmice, naproti ženě stojí chlapec, v natažené pravici drží svitek. Nad vchodem alegorický výjev - Athéna, ochránkyně věd a umění. Na levé straně reliéfu skupinka alegorie Umění: chlapec, drží paletu, maluje na plátno na stojanu, na zemi před ním sedí puto, maluje na papír, u jeho nohou busta, v pozadí sokl s koulí, na ní stojí nahá ženská postava s palmovou ratolestí v ruce. Další skupinku tvoří žena s knihou a zavázanýma očima, z jejích obou stran dítě (dítě po její pravici ve fraku), nad hlavou dítěte po ženině levici drží Athéna vavřínový věnec. Athéna s helmicí na hlavě, drží kopí, vedle ní kniha a hlava Jupitera. Za Athénou další skupina postav - alegorie Věd, chlapec sedí u globu, vedle něho zeď s dalekohledem, o zeď se opírá dívka v drapérii; další postavy: sedící puto s knihami, nad ním okřídlená postava s rohem hojnosti, za knihami hvězdný globus. Reliéfy pokračují na pravé straně od vchodu dvěma výjevy, patrně alegoriemi Vzdělání patrně v histoii a právu. První skupinu tvoří sedící žena, píše na rozvinutý svitek řeckými písmeny, proti ní stojí žena u tabule s řeckými písmeny. Poslední dvojicí jsou postavy stojících žen v drapérii, první stojí u oltáře, na něm přidržuje desku s písmeny AB a gama delta, v pravici drží svitek; druhá žena stojí u oltáře, nad ním drží váhy, na zemi leží knihy., Medvey 1939, s. 17; Szatmári 2001, s. 9-10., and Alegorické výjevy i fiktivní portréty v medailonech čerpají inspiraci v antické kultuře. Nad titulem medailon s Vergiliem (vavřínový věnec). Nahoře nalevo sedí žena (vavřínový věnec, dlouhé šaty), v rukou olivovou větvičku a knihu, lze ji vykládat jako Minervu (Verg. georg. 1, 18-19: Minervo, dárkyně oliv/Oleaque Minerva inventrix). Nahoře napravo sedí žena (dlouhé šaty, dvě trubky a palmová ratolest), patrně Fama., Kotalík 1982#, no. 76., Suerbaum 2008#, VP 1599., Fusenig 2010#, č. 93., and Titulní list a mapa podle návrhu Hanse von Aachen v sebraných spisech Vergilia (Vergilius 1599), Zpěvy pastýřské, Zpěvy rolnické a Aeneis. Kniha vyšla v Augšpurku u Johanna Pretoria (tiskař Domenicus Custos). Custos Aachenův návrh doplnil o portrét básníka v medailonu nahoře a mapu Augšpurku dole. Titulní list je nejstarší příklad "oltářového typu", který byl v 17. století velmi oblíbený ve vydáních Vergilia. Mapa viz: Praha, NK, Aachen, Vergilius, mapa. Editorem díla byl Jezuita Jacobus Spannmüller zv. Pontanus z Mostu (odtud přízvisko). Jeho edice Vergilia je považována za vyvrcholení renesančního vergiliovského bádání, je opatřeno bohatým poznámkovým materiálem a prozaickým převyprávěním Aeneidy. Pontanus napsal také ve své době nejobšírnější dílo o poetice (Pontanus 1600), o němž se předpokládá, že ovlivnilo Aachenovy názory na umění. Na vazbu mezi Aachenem a Pontanem ukazuje skutečnost, že Pontanovo dílo bylo jedinou knihou, na níž Aachen spolupracoval. Aachenova kresba k titulnímu listu se dochovala (srov. Göttingen, Vergilius, návrh frontispice).
