Possibility of substituting the affected hip joint with endoprothesis is - for many people all over the world - the only way for returning to the normal life without pains and significant motion limitations. But the age limit requiring the application of replacement becomes lower and lower. The endoprothesis applied to young patients must be replaced several times during their lives and the application and repeated replacements affect the bone so that it may happen that the next application may not be possible any more. For such cases the surface replacement the propose of which is to postpone the need of the first application of the classic total endoprothesis, has been invented. So that the objective of the contribution consists in creating a computing model of the healthy hip joint and the hip joint with the classic total hip replacement and with the surface replacement, in carrying out the stress-strain analyses, and in mutually confronting the results obtained. The problem has been solved as a direct task by means of computational modelling, by the method of finite elements in the ANSYS. As part of a metazoan parasite survey of elasmobranchs from Malaysian Borneo, specimens of Rhoptrobothrium Shipley et Hornell, 1906 were collected from the eagle rays Aetomylaeus maculatus (Gray) and Aetomylaeus niehofii (Bloch et Schneider). The type species is redescribed from its type host, and a neotype specimen is designated. In addition, three new species of Rhoptrobothrium are described: R. chongi sp. n., R. gambangi sp. n. and R. limae sp. n. Rhoptrobothrium myliobatidis conspicuously differs from the three new species in its lack of a secondary areola; R. limae is distinguished from R. chongi and R. gambangi based on its greater total length; R. chongi possesses conspicuously stalked remi, while R. gambangi possesses short remi, often folded anteriorly. Rhoptrobothrium is somewhat unusual among tetraphyllideans in its possession of a ''metascolex,'' a character it shares with other taxa in the Thysanocephalinae (i.e., Myzocephalus Shipley et Hornell, 1906, Myzophyllobothrium Shipley et Hornell, 1906 and Thysanocephalum Linton, 1889). The morphology of the ''metascolex'' of Rhoptrobothrium is investigated and new terminology is suggested to standardise the names given to structures constituting a metascolex. As a result, Rhoptrobothrium is considered to possess cephalic peduncle extensions, termed remi. In Rhoptrobothrium, each remus bears, at its distal end, a primary areola, and, in the case of the three new species, also a secondary areola proximal to the primary areola. Myzocephalus and Myzophyllobothrium are tentatively considered to possess remi; the configuration of the ''metascolex'' of Thysanocephalum, however, is not considered homologous to the condition in the other three genera currently placed in the Thysanocephalinae.
The status and composition of the Diplosentidae Tubangui et Masiluñgan, 1937 are reviewed. The type species of the type genus, Diplosentis amphacanthi Tubangui et Masiluñgan, 1937 from Siganus canaliculatus (Park, 1797) in the Philippines, is concluded to have been described inaccurately in supposedly possessing only two cement glands and lemnisci enclosed in a membranous sac. The species is almost certainly very close to species of Neorhadinorhynchus Yamaguti, 1939 and Sclerocollum Schmidt et Paperna, 1978 which have also been reported from siganids from the tropical Indo-Pacific. Species of these genera have four cement glands and unexceptional lemnisci. As a result, Diplosentis Tubangui et Masiluñgan, 1937 is best considered to have affinities with the Cavisomidae Meyer, 1932. The Cavisomidae has priority over the Diplosentidae; thus the Diplosentidae becomes a synonym of the Cavisomidae. Neorhadinorhynchus and Sclerocollum are considered synonyms of Diplosentis. The affinities of the other species and genera formerly included in the Diplosentidae (other species of Diplosentis, Allorhadinorhynchus Yamaguti, 1959, Amapacanthus Salgado-Maldonado et Santos, 2000, Pararhadinorhynchus Johnston et Edmonds, 1947, Golvanorhynchus Noronha, de Fábio et Pinto, 1978 and Slendrorhynchus Amin et Sey, 1996) are discussed. It is concluded that all but Pararhadinorhynchus, two species of Diplosentis and Amapacanthus can be accommodated elsewhere satisfactorily. A new family, Transvenidae, is proposed for a small group of acanthocephalans that genuinely possess only two cement glands. Transvena annulospinosa gen. n., sp. n. is described from the labrids Anampses neoguinaicus Bleeker, 1878 (type host), A. geographicus Valenciennes, 1840, A. caeruleopunctatus Rüppell, 1829, Hemigymnus fasciatus (Bloch, 1792), and H. melapterus (Bloch, 1791) from the Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, Australia. Transvena gen. n. is distinguished from all other acanthocephalan genera by having a combination of a single ring of small spines on its trunk near or at the junction between the neck and trunk, two cement glands, a double-walled proboscis receptacle and hooks which decrease in length from the apex to the base of the proboscis. A second new genus within the Transvenidae, Trajectura, is proposed for T. perinsolens sp. n. from Anampses neoguinaicus, also from the Great Barrier Reef. Trajectura gen. n. is distinguished by the possession of only two cement glands and an anterior conical projection (function unknown) on the females. Diplosentis ikedai Machida, 1992 shares these characters and is recombined as Trajectura ikedai comb. n. Pararhadinorhynchus is transferred to the and Transvenidae and Diplosentis manteri Gupta et Fatma, 1979 is recombined as Pararhadinorhynchus manteri comb. n.
This article is concerned with the attitude that the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (Komunistická strana Čech a Moravy - KSČM) has had towards its own past. It examines the subject from the perspective of the internal development of the Party and its search for a political and cultural identity in the Czech political system. The interpretation of the past and the role of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (Komunistická strana Československa - KSČ) in Czech and Czechoslovak history were key elements in the ideological development of the Party in the fi rst ten years of Czech democracy after the changes beginning in November 1989. And they played a central role in the Communists’ efforts to respond to the newdemocracy’s systemic and rhetorical anti-Communism. In this article the author seeks to demonstrate what effect debates about the past had in causing divisions in the Party in the fi rst years after 1989. On the one hand they contributed to cleavages within the Party, but on the other hand they also created conditions for its later consolidation and new self-confi dence. The initial reformist strategy inclined roughly to the ideas of the Social Democratic Party and sought to win the maximum number of votes and ultimately a share in government. It was supported by the fi lm-maker and chairman of the Party, Jiří Svoboda (b. 1945) from 1990 to 1993, but was gradually superseded by the strategy of what one Czech expert on international relations, Vladimír Handl, has called the ''left-wing retreat'', and what one British political scientist, Seán Hanley, calls ''voter representation'', based on the strengthening of political-cultural identity and the emphasizing of communication between the rank-and-fi le and the leadership of the Party. As the author demonstrates, the idea of ''coming to terms with the past'' gradually acquired a meaning amongst the Communists that was markedly different from the meaning it had for most Czechs. The pragmatism of the subsequent leader, Miroslav Grebeníček (b. 1947), to a certain extent attenuated, but did not solve, the fundamental dilemma faced by the Party, which consisted in the confl ict between the ''logic of the electoral struggle'' and the ''logic of voter representation''. The fi rst trend after the downfall of the reformists in 1993 included, in particular, neoCommunist theorists (like the political thinker Miloslav Ransdorf, b. 1953), who sought to formulate Socialist alternatives acceptable to most left-leaning Czechs. That also led them to attempt a more critical analysis of their own past than the majority of their rank-and-fi le members would have done. The second trend, the logic of voter representation, oriented to preserving and strengthening the strong identity of Party members and supporters, was linked with the continuing conservative majority of the rank-and-fi le represented by local activists, the Party press, and some members of the Party leadership. All of them preferred the programme of political and social populism. They tended to understand history as the ''politics of history'' - in other words, as a means to support their own identity and to resist the hostile environment outside the Party. For both trends in the Party, however, the challenge presented by anti-Communism - whether systemic or spontaneous - remained, to the end of the 1990s, an important, if not the most important, unifying motive. But it considerably limited their possibilities to raise sensitive questions about their own past and to hold a potentially critical debate.
This article presents an analysis of Czechoslovak political history of the fi rst half of the 1970s and the question of who would succeed General Ludvík Svoboda (1895-1979) as Czechoslovak President. The emphasis is on the role of Gustáv Husák (1913-1991), who emerged from the political crisis of 1968-69 as the most powerful actor, and was, at the 14th Congress of the Czechoslovak Communist Party, confi rmed as General Secretary of the Party. Using Soviet archives, the author points to differences between the individual members of the Party leadership, and particularly to the lack of unity amongst the so-called ''healthy forces''. According to him, it is fair to talk about the disintegration of this bloc, which had been formed during the Prague Spring, into several smaller groups. The secretary of the Central Committee of the Czechoslovak Communist Party, Vasil Biľak (1917-2014), was, in consequence of this and Soviet pressure, forced to abandon any ambitions tostand at the head of the Party, and had to be satisfi ed, instead, with the position of Number Two in the Party. The Soviet leadership derived social stability in Czechoslovakia from the fi rmness of the Czechoslovak Communist Party leadership, and in particular counted on the collaboration of Husák and Biľak, and it made this clear to both men. Svoboda’s failing health prevented him from properly discharging his duties as President of Czechoslovakia, but he did not even try to hold on to the presidency, even though, in the interest of political stability, he was confi rmed in offi ce in March 1973, and remained something of a temporary solution. The article does not seek to challenge or confi rm the hypothesis that he was forced to step down in May 1975; although, in any event, Svoboda was in no condition to have taken this step himself. Husák’s efforts to become President kept running up against the question of the accumulation of offi ces and also the Czech-Slovak national factor, even though, thanks to centrist Czechoslovak policy and support from Moscow, he succeeded in achieving a ‘peculiar unity’ over this question in the CPCz leadership, so that on 29 May 1975 he became the fi rst, and also the last, Czechoslovak President who was a Slovak. In Czech eyes, however, he remained a Slovak who had, after August 1968, considerably participated in the unfortunate re-imposition of hard-line Communism known as ''normalization'', whereas for the Slovak nation he increasingly became a turncoat, a ''Prague Slovak''.
The influence of the steel strip cracking at the wound part of the high pressure compound vessel on the stress, strain and vessel safety has been investigated. An equivalent orthotropic material model with the zero tangential elasticity modulus Et has been utilised to describe this phenomenon. The stress and strain analysis was carried out by means of the problem oriented finite element method (F EM) code PROKOP [2]. The damaged strip packet of thickness 10 mm at any radial position influences negatively the vessel safety. To verify possibilities of the thermic sinking technology the experiments with magmatic rocks (muscovite-biotite granite, amphibole-pyroxene andesite, pyroxene basalt) were made in the preliminary research phase. The contribution presents the microscopic study results of petrographic and structural observations of the rocks after their thermic reworking. This paper presents the relation between main crack systems and physical properties of carbonate rocks. The existence of cracks in a rock mass causes the reduction of seismic wave velocity, which is smaller in direction perpendicular to a crack plane than in direction parallel to it. This affects the occurrence of the anisotropy of seismic wave velocity, which is characteristic for rocks with preferred orientation of cracks. The existence of relationship between crack and seismic anisotropy allowed to use geophysical methods for determination of fracture density and orientation of crack systems. The research area is located in the south-east part of the Upper Silesian Trough. Tectonic observation and geophysical measurements was carried on the carbonate sequence on the both fold limbs building the Chrzanow-Wilkoszyn Syncline, originated during the Early Cimmerian movements, in the Upper Triassic - Middle Jurassic period. It was measured seismic waves velocity in the surface layers of rock mass and the strike azimuth and dip angle of cracks.The seismic anisotropy of the rock mass was done along radial profiles having common central point using P.A.S.I. Seis mograph (Mod.16S24-N). Results of field measurements were interpreted to estimate components of crack and velocity tensors. Obtained outcomes allowed to compare the existing main crack systems on the both fold limbs with seismic measurements. The transformed C6 glial cells in cultures were treated with sodium mercaptoborate (Na2B12H11SH, BSH), a carrier of atomic targets (10B) of thermal neutrons for the neutron capture therapy of brain tumors. As shown by light microscopy, the therapeutic dose of BSH (100 µg/ml) did not alter the gross morphology and growth of the population of cells within a 72 h treatment interval. Electron microscopic analysis of these cells revealed activation of nucleoli and, occasionally, enlarged and bifurcated mitochondria. After 200 µg BSH/ml and 72 h treatment, growth of the cell population was inhibited and ultrastructural changes became more profound. They included condensation of chromatin and its allocation to the nuclear envelope which formed deeper invaginations. Mitochondria further increased in size and were characterized by slim or angular cristae. Moreover, in circumscribed segments of some of the slightly swollen mitochondria their cristae disappeared or were reduced to fine pouch-like structures localized near the continuous outer membrane, suggestive for a non-destructive restructuring of the inner mitochondrial membrane. The smooth pinocytotic vesicles near the plasma membrane, lysosomes and heterogeneous dense bodies were more frequent. The revealed subcellular targets of BSH may initiate the development of pharmacological protocols aimed to further improve the tolerance to BSH by the healthy tissues of patients undergoing BNCT of brain tumors, e.g. by intervention into the oxidative stress triggered likely by the altered mitochondria., V. Changes in the utilization pattern of primary substrate, viz. [U-14C] acetate, 14CO2 and [U-14C] saccharose, and the contents of 14C fixation products in photosynthetic metabolites (sugars, amino acids, and organic acids) were determined in Fe-deficient citronella in relation to the essential oil accumulation. There was an overall decrease in photosynthetic efficiency of the Fe-deficient plants as evidenced by lower levels of incorporation into the sugar fraction and essential oil after 14CO2 had been supplied. When acetate and saccharose were fed to the Fe-deficient plants, despite a higher incorporation of label into sugars, amino acids, and organic acids, there was a lower incorporation of these metabolites into essential oils than in control plants. Thus, the availability of precursors and the translocation to a site of synthesis/accumulation, severely affected by Fe deficiency, is equally important for the essential oil biosynthesis in citronella. and N.
