Description:

Climate oscillations, temperature curves and mollusc fauna. Under terrestrial sedimentation condition, the most complete evidence of Quarternary climatic shifts is provided by mid-European loess series, consisting of fossil soils, colluvial horizons and loess accumulations. These occur in regular cyclic sequences, each corresponding to one interglacial cycle. The loess cycles can be correlated with climatic phases recorded in deap-sea and glacier ice cores.
