Studie se zabývá fenoménem romantické imaginace v obrozenské literatuře. Úvodní část připomíná evropský kontext cestopisné literatury, jež často spojovala erudovaný vědecký výklad s působivou básnickou obrazností (zejména texty Alexandera Humboldta (1769–1859), Johanna Baptista Spixe (1781–1826), Maximiliana Wieda (1782–1867), Christiana Gottfrieda Ehrenberga (1795–1876)) a ukazuje, jakým způsobem esteticky ztvárňovali přírodu. Upozorňuje na charakteristické užití figurativního jazyka, jež lze sledovat i v českých cestopisech (např. u Josefa Myslimíra Ludvíka či Miloty Zdirada Poláka). Tendence k neotřelému, silně figurativnímu jazykovému vyjádření podle autorky směřovala k prohloubení estetického vjemu obrazu krajiny a vnášela do textu zvláštní významovou zamlženost. Příroda v dobových cestopisech důsledně referovala k situaci subjektu, stávala se symbolem jeho vnitřního dění. Cestopis se uplatněním určitých literárních prostředků proměňoval z textu nefiktivní povahy v esteticky motivované dílo, primárně určené umělecké komunikaci. Druhá část studie srovnává reprezentaci přírody v díle K. H. Máchy s uměleckými postupy a prostředky charakteristickými pro obrozenský cestopis. Studie ukazuje, že kromě shodného repertoáru poetizujících jazykových prostředků se Mácha blížil obrozenským cestopisům také v analogické konfiguraci krajiny. Autorka rozvíjí tezi F. Vodičky, podle níž je třeba vnímat Máchovu tvorbu v kontextu předchozí obrozenské literatury, avšak nejen jejích děl prestižních (jako byly Rukopisy, Kollárova poezie nebo Lindova Záře nad pohanstvem), ale i s ohledem na žánry literární historií spíše opomíjené, k nimž náleží i cestopis. Po jazykové stránce vykazuje Máchova tvorba zřejmé paralely s obrozenským cestopisem, ale zásadně se od něj liší důsledným existenciálním domýšlením. Máchův krajinný obraz se projevuje těsnou vazbu k vnitřnímu prožitku subjektu, nezpůsobuje však pouze jeho určité citové naladění, ale spíše zdůrazňuje zvláštní povahu času. Mácha prohluboval a rozvíjel možnosti romantické imaginace, respektive českého romantického jazyka, které byly v některých obrozenských – původních i překladových – dílech přítomny již začátkem dvacátých let 19. století. and The article is concerned with the phenomenon of the Romantic imagination in the literatureof the Czech National Revival. The introductory section recalls the European context of travelwriting, which often brought together erudite scholarly interpretation and effective poeticimagery, particularly in works by Alexander Humboldt (1769–1859), Johann Baptist von Spix(1781–1826), Maximilian zu Wied‑Neuwied(1782–1867), and Christian Gottfried Ehrenberg(1795–1876), and demonstrates the way in which they sought to shape nature aesthetically.The author points to the characteristic use of figurative speech, which is evident also in Czechtravel writing, for example, in works by Josef Myslimír Ludvík (1796–1856) and Matěj MilotaZdirad Polák (1788–1856). The tendency towards fresh, strongly figurative linguistic expression,according to the author, aimed to intensify the aesthetic perception of the picture of thelandscape and add a special semantic haziness to the text. In contemporaneous travel writingNature consistently referred to the situation of the subject, becoming a symbol of what was goingon inside him or her. By using certain literary devices, travel writing turned a non‑fictiontextinto an aesthetically motivated work, primarily intended for artistic communication. The secondpart of the article compares the representation of Nature in the works of Karel Hynek Mácha(1810–1836) with the artistic approaches and devices characteristic of Revivalist travel writing.The article seeks to demonstrate that, in addition to a similar repertoire of poeticizing linguisticdevices, Mácha’s works resemble Revivalist travel writing also with respect to the configurationof the landscape. The author develops the thesis of Felix Vodička (1909–1974), according towhich Mácha’s work must be seen in the context of previous Revivalist literature, but not only its prestigious works like the Forged Manuscripts, Kollár’s verse, and Josef Linda’s Záře nadpohanstvem (A Light over the Pagans), but also its genres of literary history, usually forgotten,including travel writing. In terms of language, Mácha’s works exhibit obvious parallels with Revivalisttravel writing, but fundamentally differ from it in their thoroughly existential speculations.His landscape picture shows a close resemblance to the inner experience of the subject, butdoes not evoke only a certain emotional mood. Rather, it emphasizes the special nature of time.Mácha deepened and expanded the possibilities of the Romantic imagination and Czech Romanticlanguage, which were present in some Revivalist works – original ones as well as translations– beginning in the 1820s.
