Description:

Using a 1-D electrostatic code the generation of Langmuir waves in the neutral beam-plasma system was studied. A two-step saturation process of Langmuir wave generation was found to be operating. Firstly the process is driven by beam electrons and after their trapping and mixing in the phase space, their role is taken by beam protons. The high saturation level of Langmuir waves derived for such processes is promising from the point of view of radio emission generation.
