In closing part of C4 serial, I try to explain relationship between C4 plants and human in two dimensions. 1. Importance of C4-based agriculture for current and past civilizations and 2. Scientific aims and approaches to explore C4 photosynthesis, plants and crops. Current effort to introduce C4 traits into important crops (rice) is also mentioned.
