Problematika HPV je novou kapitolou v léčbě nádorů hlavy a krku. Řeší se význam stanovení HPV pro praxi ve smyslu deintenzifikace léčby. Cílená léčba, intenzivně diskutovaná během posledních let se stabilizuje jak v indikacích, tak přípravcích. Nové léky zatím neprokázaly zajímavou účinnost. V tomto článku budou souhrnně rozebrány jednotlivé mechanismy, kterými etanol podporuje vznik a růst karcinomů horních dýchacích a polykacích cest. Etanol v kancerogenezi působí jako kokancerogen tím, že usnadňuje průnik jiných kancerogenů do buněk. Etanol však představuje i přímý kancerogen, neboť z něj vzniká kancerogenní formaldehyd. Podporovat růst nádorů může i skrze oslabení imunity anebo hormonální dysbalanci., This article summarizes mechanisms through which ethanol promotes the genesis and growth of carcinomas of an upper aerodigestive tract. Ethanol plays a role in cancerogenesis as a cocancerogen because it facilitates penetration of other cancerogens to cells.
