Leading topic of this article is description of Lorentz forces in the container with cuboid shape. Inside of the container is an electrically conductive melt. This melt is driven by rotating magnetic field. Numerical simulations of these unsteady flows were performed in commercial sofrware Ansys Fluent (version 13). Input data (Lorentz forces in the container with cuboid shape) were also obtained from the computing program NS-FEM3D, which uses DDES method of computing as a turbulent approach. Related velocity field of the melt inside the container was displayed and described as well. and Obsahuje seznam literatury
Changes in runoff parameters are very important for Slovakia, where stream-flow discharges, being supplied by precipitation and groundwater runoff, are preferentially influenced by climatic conditions. Therefore, teleconnections between runoff parameters, climate parameters and global atmospheric drivers such as North Atlantic Oscillation, Southern Pacific Oscillation, Quasi-biennial oscillation and solar activity were studied in the Nitra River Basin, Slovakia. Research was mostly based on records of 80 years (1931-2010) for discharges and baseflow, and 34 years for groundwater heads. Methods of autocorrelation, spectral analysis, cross-correlation and coherence function were used. Results of auto-correllograms for discharges, groundwater heads and base flow values showed a very distinct 11-year and 21-year periodicity. Spectrogram analysis documented the 11-year, 7.8-year, 3.6-year and 2.4-year periods in the discharge, precipitation and air temperature time series. The same cycles except of 11-years were also identified in the long-term series of the North Atlantic Oscillation and Southern Pacific Oscillation indices. The cycle from approximately 2.3 to 2.4-years is most likely connected with Quasi-biennial oscillation. The close negative correlation between the North Atlantic Oscillation winter index and the hydrological surface and groundwater parameters can be used for their prediction within the same year and also for one year in advance.
Light-induced Ca2+ concentration oscillations in cytoplasm of oat protoplasts were shown to be controlled by inhibitors of Ca^"*" pumps, sodium vanadate and tuBHQ. The sources of Ca^'*' released into cytoplasm under the action of radiant energy are vacuole and endoplasmic reticulum, but not mitochondria. The manifestation of Ca^'*' oscillations depends on the concentrations of oat protoplasts in the suspension which suggests the propagation of a signál between the cells and synchronization of their light-induced Ca2+ oscillation response.
Cystacanths of Corynosoma pseudohamanni Zdzitowiecki, 1984 (Palaeacanthocephala: Polymorphidae) are redescribed on the basis of specimens recovered from three species of Antarctic notothenioid fish, Trematomus bernacchii Boulenger, Gobionotothen gibberifrons (Lönnberg) and Notothenia coriiceps Richardson, collected from the Prince Gustav Channel, Antarctica. The cystacanths' morphometry and their internal anatomy including trunk muscles were studied using light and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The characteristic features of this species such as the length of proboscis and the number of hooks (i.e. 260 hooks arranged in 20 rows with 13 hooks each, including two basal hooks) were confirmed and the intraspecific variability was evaluated. Sexual dimorphism was manifested in the shape of the hindtrunk, and the distribution and extent of the somatic armature only. SEM observations of internal anatomy revealed the detailed organization of trunk musculature.
