2. Basic subgroups in modular abelian group algebras
- Creator:
- Danchev, Peter
- Format:
- bez média and svazek
- Type:
- model:article and TEXT
- Subject:
- $p$-basic subgroups, normalized units, group algebras, and starred groups
- Language:
- English
- Description:
- Suppose ${F}$ is a perfect field of ${\mathop {\mathrm char}F=p\ne 0}$ and ${G}$ is an arbitrary abelian multiplicative group with a ${p}$-basic subgroup ${B}$ and ${p}$-component ${G_p}$. Let ${FG}$ be the group algebra with normed group of all units ${V(FG)}$ and its Sylow ${p}$-subgroup ${S(FG)}$, and let ${I_p(FG;B)}$ be the nilradical of the relative augmentation ideal ${I(FG;B)}$ of ${FG}$ with respect to ${B}$. The main results that motivate this article are that ${1+I_p(FG;B)}$ is basic in ${S(FG)}$, and ${B(1+I_p(FG;B))}$ is ${p}$-basic in ${V(FG)}$ provided ${G}$ is ${p}$-mixed. These achievements extend in some way a result of N. Nachev (1996) in Houston J. Math. when ${G}$ is $p$-primary. Thus the problem of obtaining a ($p$-)basic subgroup in ${FG}$ is completely resolved provided that the field $F$ is perfect. Moreover, it is shown that ${G_p(1+I_p(FG;B))/G_p}$ is basic in ${S(FG)/ G_p}$, and $G(1+I_p(FG; B))/G$ is basic in ${V(FG)/G}$ provided ${G}$ is ${p}$-mixed. As consequences, ${S(FG)}$ and ${S(FG)/G_p}$ are both starred or divisible groups. All of the listed assertions enlarge in a new aspect affirmations established by us in Czechoslovak Math. J. (2002), Math. Bohemica (2004) and Math. Slovaca (2005) as well.

3. Blaschke product generated covering surfaces
- Creator:
- Barza, Ilie and Ghisa, Dorin
- Format:
- bez média and svazek
- Type:
- model:article and TEXT
- Subject:
- Blaschke product, covering surface, covering transformation, fundamental domain, and Cantor set
- Language:
- English
- Description:
- It is known that, under very general conditions, Blaschke products generate branched covering surfaces of the Riemann sphere. We are presenting here a method of finding fundamental domains of such coverings and we are studying the corresponding groups of covering transformations.

4. On potentially $K_5-H$-graphic sequences
- Creator:
- Hu, Lili, Lai, Chunhui, and Wang, Ping
- Format:
- bez média and svazek
- Type:
- model:article and TEXT
- Subject:
- graph, degree sequence, and potentially $K_5-H$-graphic sequence
- Language:
- English
- Description:
- Let $K_m-H$ be the graph obtained from $K_m$ by removing the edges set $E(H)$ of $H$ where $H$ is a subgraph of $K_m$. In this paper, we characterize the potentially $K_5-P_4$ and $K_5-Y_4$-graphic sequences where $Y_4$ is a tree on 5 vertices and 3 leaves.

5. Positive solutions for third order multi-point singular boundary value problems
- Creator:
- Graef, John R., Kong, Lingju, and Yang, Bo
- Format:
- bez média and svazek
- Type:
- model:article and TEXT
- Subject:
- positive solution, singular boundary value problem, multi-point boundary condition, and nonlinear alternative of Leray-Schauder
- Language:
- English
- Description:
- We study a third order singular boundary value problem with multi-point boundary conditions. Sufficient conditions are obtained for the existence of positive solutions of the problem. Recent results in the literature are significantly extended and improved. Our analysis is mainly based on a nonlinear alternative of Leray-Schauder.

6. Qb site modification and the binding of photosystem 2 directed inhibitors during photoinhibition
- Creator:
- Giardi, M. T., Rigoni, F., and Barbato, R.
- Format:
- Type:
- model:internalpart and TEXT
- Language:
- Multiple languages
- Description:
- Binding kinetics of some photosystem 2 (PS 2)-directed ínhibitors to isolated pea thylakoids during photoinUbition were studied. Changes in the herbicide binding activity were overshadowed by the redox statě of the plastoquinone (PQ) pool. After extraction of the PQ pool from the thylakoids, a correlation between the decline of herbicide binding activity and the electron transfer activity during strong irradiation was found in the presence of oxygen; in anaerobiosis this correlation was absent. The opposite was observed for the binding kinetics of the electron transfer acceptor 2,6-dichlorophenol indophenol, that was affected faster under anaerobic conditions. Following irradiation, a movement of damaged Dj-protein products from the appressed to the non-appressed regions of the membrane was observed. This observation was correlated to the fínding of an increased level of atrazine bound to the non-appressed regions of irradiated membranes.

7. The influence of weakly-supplemented subgroups on the structure of finite groups
- Creator:
- Kong, Qingjun and Liu, Qingfeng
- Format:
- bez média and svazek
- Type:
- model:article and TEXT
- Subject:
- weakly-supplemented subgroup, $p$-nilpotent group, and supersolvable group
- Language:
- English
- Description:
- A subgroup $H$ of a finite group $G$ is weakly-supplemented in $G$ if there exists a proper subgroup $K$ of $G$ such that $G=HK$. In the paper it is proved that a finite group $G$ is $p$-nilpotent provided $p$ is the smallest prime number dividing the order of $G$ and every minimal subgroup of $P\cap G'$ is weakly-supplemented in $N_{G}(P),$ where $P$ is a Sylow $p$-subgroup of $G$. As applications, some interesting results with weakly-supplemented minimal subgroups of $P\cap G'$ are obtained.
