The aim of this article is to inform reader about the development steps and practices which were used during the development of a control system of a fuel metering pump. The aim of this development was to design a cntrol system for a BLDC motor in accordance with rigid aviation standards and verify new development practices and tools alowing faster and simpler certification. The development covers such steps as definition of first requirements, preliminary design, system modelling and simulation, detailed deisgn, verification and testing. Given description intruduces reader to mandatory practices and procedures which are obligatory for successful certification of developed control systems. Employing evapotranspiration models is a widely used method to estimate reference evapotranspiration (ETREF) based on weather data. Evaluating such models considering site-specific boundary conditions is recommended to interpret ETREF-calculations in a realistic and substantiated manner. Therefore, we evaluated the ASCE standardized ETREF-equations at a subhumid site in northeastern Austria. We calculated ETREF-values for hourly and daily time steps, whereof the former were processed to sum-of-hourly values. The obtained data were compared to each other and to ETvalues measured by a weighing lysimeter under reference conditions. The resulting datasets covered daily data of the years 2004 to 2011. Sum-of-hourly values correlated well (r2 = 0.978) with daily values, but an RMSE of 0.27 mm specified the differences between the calculation procedures. Comparing the calculations to lysimeter measurements revealed overestimation of small ETREF-values and underestimation of large values. The sum-of-hourly values outperformed the daily values, as r2 of the former was slightly larger and RMSE was slightly smaller. Hence, sum-of-hourly computations delivered the best estimation of ETREF for a single day. Seasonal effects were obvious, with computations and measurements being closest to each other in the summer months.
We prove two Dyakonov type theorems which relate the modulus of continuity of a function on the unit disc with the modulus of continuity of its absolute value. A new species of Proteocephalus, P. joanae sp. n„ is described from the intestine of the colubrid snake, Xenodon neuwiedi (Günther, 1863) (Serpentes: Xenodontinae), from Brazil. The new species differs from all other members of Proteocephalus by possessing a swollen elongated posterior part of the scolex herein considered as a metascolex. Furthermore, it is the only member of New World Proteocephalus possessing a voluminous glandular apical organ larger than suckers. P. joanae is also characterized by very elongated gravid proglottides. This is the first member of the Proteocephalidea occurring in Xenodon. Even though the species differs significantly from other species of the genus Proteocephalus, which currently contains many species that are morphologically very distinctive, it seems prudent to refrain from reworking the classification of the group until accurate redescriptions of Neotropical species can be conducted, preferably based on examination of type and freshly collected material. The definition of the metascolex is discussed herein.
