- Subject:
- transtibial prosthesis, strain gange, and loading character of prosthesis
- Language:
- English
- Description:
- This paper deals with experimental simulation of mechanical properties of transtibial prosthesis. Artificial limb allows patient standing and moving without of using others supporting devices. Therefore, patient returns back to common and active life. Design and prosthesis properties decide about comfort, safeness and reliability of prosthesis. The article summarizes a conclusion of preliminary experiment, which was performed to measurement procedure of prosthesis strain (for real loading of straight walking, downhill walking and downstairs walking) and data processing. and Obsahuje seznam literatury

3. Ultimate boundedness of some third order ordinary differential equations

- Type:
- model:article and TEXT
- Subject:
- ultimate boundedness, complete Lyapunov function, and differential equation of third-order
- Language:
- English
- Description:
- We prove the ultimate boundedness of solutions of some third order nonlinear ordinary differential equations using the Lyapunov method. The results obtained generalize earlier results of Ezeilo, Tejumola, Reissig, Tunç and others. The Lyapunov function used does not involve the use of signum functions as used by others.

- Subject:
- hydrological characteristics, climatic characteristics, precipitation, runoff, water balance in Slovakia, hydrologické charakteristiky, klimatické charakteristiky, zrážky, odtok, and hydrologická bilancia Slovenska
- Language:
- Slovak
- Description:
- In the paper there the questions of selection of representative period for the hydrological characteristics assessment are discussed. Also the characteristics of runoff and precipitation for the periods 1931-1980 and 1961-2000 are presented. The main components of water balance in Slovakia are the basis for comparison of both periods. The assessment of development of runoff condition during the last decades is presented. and V referáte sa diskutujú otázky výberu reprezentatívneho obdobia pre stanovenie hydrologických charakteristík.

5. Water relations, gas exchange, photochemical efficiency, and peroxidative stress of four plant species in the Heihe drainage basin of northern China

- Subject:
- active oxygen, antioxidative ability, desert plants, drought stress, mesophytic plants, photochemical efficiency, photosynthesis, stomatal conductance, transpiration rate, and water use efficiency
- Language:
- Multiple languages
- Description:
- Haloxylon ammodendron, Calligonum mongolicum, Elaeagnus angustifolia, and Populus hosiensis had different adaptations to limited water availability, high temperature, and high irradiance. C. mongolicum used water more efficiently than did the other species. Because of low transpiration rate (E) and low water potential, H. ammodendron had low water loss suitable for desert conditions. Water use efficiency (WUE) was high in E. angustifolia, but high E and larger leaf area made this species more suitable for mesic habitats; consequently, this species is important in tree shelterbelts. P. hosiensis had low WUE, E, and photosynthesis rates, and therefore, does not prosper in arid areas without irrigation. High irradiances caused photoinhibition of the four plants. The decrease of photochemical efficiency was a possible non-stomata factor for the midday depression of C. mongolicum. However, the species exhibited different protective mechanisms against high irradiance under drought stress. H. ammodendron and C. mongolicum possessed a more effective antioxidant defence system than E. angustifolia. These three species showed different means of coping with oxidative stress. Hence an enzymatic balance is maintained in these plants under adverse stress conditions, and the concerted action of both enzymatic and non-enzymatic reactive oxygen species scavenging mechanisms is vital to survive adverse conditions. and J.
