- Description:
- Trace elements and wine. Chemical and lead isotopic composition of wines and soils from six viticulture areas of the Czech Republic were examined using the statistical multivariate analyses. The areas differ in their geological basement and anthropogenic loading. In the group of 27 studied elements, only Mg exhibits a statistically significant correlation between its concentration in soil extract and wine. Bentonite employed during production of wine from grapes can constitute an important source of Al, Si and other trace elements present in wines. The isotopic composition of wines (206Pb/207Pb) shows, that interception of airborne Pb by plants is greater than its uptake by root system. Clustering of the wine composition reflects the soil chemistry, pollution history and wine manufacturing practices.
