A Regional Technical Museum was established by the Škoda Holding, a. s., a joint-stock company and the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň with intention to building a modern and interactive museum. The intention of both founders is to respond to the present situation when there is a decreasing interest by students in the field of science and technology. The Week of Science and Technology of the CAS is the most extensive science festival in the Czech Republic. This year, it was held for the 15th time already and took place between November 1-15, 2015 in Prague, Brno, Ostrava and other places over the intire Czech Republic. In total, it included 250 lectures, 60 exhibitions, science cafés, workshops, seminars, projections of scientific films and 75 open-house days. The open-house days at the institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences are intended for all visitors interested in finding out more on the latest trends in the realm of science, in the work of scientists, the research projects of the Czech Academy of Sciences and the latest scientific instruments. and Jana Olivová, Luděk Svoboda.
The continuing development and improvement of the Academy´s Strategy AV 21 innovative project was one of the item at the Academy Assembly´s XLVIII Meeting. One of its task was also the Evaluation of the Research and Professional Activities of the Institutes of the CAS. The research evaluation of the Institutes of the CAS for the 2010-2014 period was focused on individual assessment units within individual Institutes; each assessment unit was evaluated by one of 13 field panels. The Academy Assembly, the Academy of Science´s highest body responsible for the highest priority decisions related to the ASCR, held its XXXIX meeting on December 16, 2011. Among invited guests were Petr Fiala, the Prime Minister´s Chief Science Advisor; Karel Pospíšil, Head of Board of Public Applied Research Institutions; Václav Pačes, President of the Learned Society of the Czech Republic; Rudolf Zahradník, Honorary President of the ASCR; Helena Illnerová, former President of the ASCR; Václav Hampl, Rector of Charles University of Prague; Přemysl Sobotka, First Vice-President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, and Vladimír Haasz, Vice-Chairperson of the R&D Council of the Czech Republic, and others.
