The paper is devoted to a careful analysis of the shape-preserving properties of the strongly continuous semigroup generated by a particular second-order differential operator, with particular emphasis on the preservation of higher order convexity and Lipschitz classes. In addition, the asymptotic behaviour of the semigroup is investigated as well. The operator considered is of interest, since it is a unidimensional Black-Scholes operator so that our results provide qualitative information on the solutions of classical problems in option pricing theory in Mathematical Finance.
In this paper, the position-only, amplitude-only, and amplitude-phase synthesizes for the shaped-beam patterns of the linear antenna arrays have been achieved by using the clonal selection algorithm (CLONALG). The CLONALG is a relatively novel evolutionary optimization method based on the clonal selection principle of the human immune system. Numerical examples of the pencil, flat-topped, and cosecant patterns are given. Numerical results show that the CLONALG is capable of synthesizing the array patterns with a good performance both in the shaped region and in the sidelobe region.
Rayleigh waves in the period range 0.2 - 3.0 s from eight quarry blasts are analyzed to obtain S-wave velocity model beneath the Příbram seven-station array in the Czech Republic. Locations and origin times of blasts are estimated using P- and S-wave onsets and then verified at the quarry in the vicinity of the location. This blind test confirms a sufficient precision of the location procedure for identification of quarries. Epicentral distances are in the range from 16 to 52 km. Group velocity dispersion curves of Rayleigh waves are determined by the frequency-time analysis. An average group velocity beneath the array for each period is computed with the help of mean travel-time curve for all blasts and stations. The resultant group velocity dispersion curve is inverted to obtain a 1-D S-wave velocity model using the Isometric method. The results are compared with known geological structure in the area of interest., Renata Gaždová, Petr Kolínský, Jiří Málek and Jan Vilhelm., and Obsahuje bibliografii
We determine in \mathbb{R}^{n} the form of curves C corresponding to strictly monotone functions as well as the components of affine connections \Delta for which any image of C under a compact-free group Ω of affinities containing the translation group is a geodesic with respect to \Delta . Special attention is paid to the case that Ω contains many dilatations or that C is a curve in \mathbb{R}^{3}. If C is a curve in \mathbb{R}^{3} and Ω is the translation group then we calculate not only the components of the curvature and the Weyl tensor but we also decide when \Delta yields a flat or metrizable space and compute the corresponding metric tensor., Josef Mikeš, Karl Strambach., and Obsahuje seznam literatury
Of all the peoples of the world, the Chinese are the most famous for their historical-mindedness. They owe this reputation primarily to their unique traditional historiography. Its main genre is that of Standard Histories ( cheng shih 正史), which first emerged early in the first century B.C. and which were compiled for more than two millennia. The genre was first created and developed through the efforts of two Han historians. Ssu-ma Ch’ien 司馬遷 (145? – 86? B.C.) initiated it by writing the Shih chi 史記 (“Records of the Historian” [or, to be more exact, “the Astrologer”]), the first general history of the Chinese oecumene; whereas Pan Ku 班固 (A.D. 32 – 92) modified the genre by writing his Han shu 漢書 (“Han History”), the first history of a single dynasty. All in all, twenty-five Standard Histories were compiled. For the most part they are histories of one dynasty, like Han shu, but some of them are histories of several dynasties. The Shih chi and Han shu became models for later generations and greatly influenced traditional historians of China as well as of other countries of the region affected by Chinese culture, such as Korea and Japan. The cultural significance of the Shih chi is especially great. Suffice it to say that within its framework, Ssu-ma Ch’ien created the earliest samples of Chinese biographies that have come down to us. The possibility they are the first biographies written in China cannot be ruled out.
We show that prediction of travel time on a 28-km long highway section based on on-line travel time measurements with video is practicable by a data mining method. We introduce a new prediction model, a result of the GUHA style data mining analysis and tlie Total Fuzzy Similarity method. Comparing the results with the existing Traficon model, oiir model improves the travel time class prediction. The results obtained by our method are comparable to the MLP neural network model, too.
The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of Angiotensin II (Ang II) and Arginin-Vasopressin (AVP) on contractility of non-pregnant uterus in diabetic Wistar rats and to explore whether one-week administration of Melatonin (MLT) or Ghrelin (GHR) will change the response of diabetic uterine muscle to AngII and AVP. Uterine horns, prepared by the method of isolated tissues were investigated as w ell as glycemic profile, blood pressure and body weight. The research of smooth muscle contractions was made by a new method of analysis, characterizing in detail the various phases of the myometrial activity. Differences in the development of the peptide-mediated smooth muscle contractions depending on the phase of the estrous cycle were observed. Experimental diabetes had a pronounced negative effect on force and time-parameters of AngII and AVP-stimulated uterine contractions. Administration of GHR or MLT had a beneficial effect on the glycemic status of diabetic rats and partially improved the response of uterine preparations to the peptides. The application of MLT increased both force and time-parameters of Ang II- and AVP-stimulated uterine contractions while treatment with GHR increased power characteristics and shortened contraction and relaxation of the smooth muscle process., T. The aim of this study was the histochemical characterization of NADPH diaphorase-positive neuronal pools in the rabbit lumbosacral segments using a model of single, repeated and multiple sublethal spinal cord ischemia. Following a single 8-min sublethal spinal cord ischemia and 1-hour reperfusion, the staining of NADPH diaphorase-exhibiting neurons in the dorsal horn, pericentral region, dorsal gray commissure and sacral parasympathetic nucleus was comparable with the control sections. In contrast to the foregoing sublethal ischemia, a regionally different somatic NADPH diaphorase (NADPHd) staining was found after multiple sublethal spinal cord ischemia. Whereas an almost complete loss of the staining of large NADPHd-exhibiting somata in the pericentral region was detected, the staining of the NADPHd-exhibiting neuronal pools in the deep dorsal horn and sacral parasympathetic nucleus was fully preserved. Concomitantly, a prominent reduction of small NADPH diaphorase -positive neurons was noted in the superficial dorsal horn layers of lower lumbar and sacral segments., J. Maršala, P.
