This article is a continuation of a previous one named Fuzzy model use for prediction of the state of emergency of river basin in the case of flash flood (Janál & Starý, 2009), where the potential applications of fuzzy logic in the field of flash flood forecasting were described. Flash flood forecasting needs a specific approach because of the character of torrential rainfall. Storms are very difficult to forecast in space and time. The hydrological models designed for flash flood prediction have to be able to work with very uncertain input data. Moreover, the models have to be capable of evaluating the level of danger in as short a time as possible because of the highly dynamic character of the modeled process. The fuzzy model described in the previous article was modified into a form usable in operational hydrology and a simulation of its operational application was run using this model. The selected time period for the simulation was the summer of 2009, when numerous flash floods occurred in Czech Republic. V úvodním článku byly popsány možnosti využití fuzzy logiky v problematice operativních předpovědí povodní způsobených přívalovými srážkami. Předpověď tohoto druhu povodní vyžaduje specifický přístup, jelikož výskyt přívalových srážek v prostoru a čase lze, díky jejich charakteru, jen stěží předpovídat. Hydrologické modely, určené pro předpověď povodní jimi způsobenými musí být schopny pracovat s velmi neurčitými vstupy. Díky vysoké dynamice předpovídaného procesu musí být navíc schopny vyhodnotit vstupní data ve velmi krátkém čase. Fuzzy model, popsaný v prvním díle, byl upraven do podoby využitelné v operativní hydrologii a byl otestován pomocí simulace operativního provozu ve zvoleném období z léta 2009, kdy byla ČR zasažena četnými povodněmi z přívalových srážek. Úpravy modelu pro praktické využití a vyhodnocení zpětné simulace jeho provozu jsou předmětem předloženého navazujícího článku.

Principles of gamma-ray-based measurement are summarized and their application is demonstrated on an operation of the radiometric facility installed in the test loop for slurry flows at the Institute of Hydrodynamics. The facility is able to measure vertical profiles of chord-averaged concentrations and concentration maps in the pipe cross section. A methodology of measurement is proposed including detection and quantification of random and systematic errors. Experimental results are discussed in the light of the proposed methodology. Experimentally determined vertical profiles of concentration are presented for slurry flows of four different fractions of glass beads. The tomographic application of the radiometric device is demonstrated on a measured concentration map and a suitable image reconstruction method is tested. High reliability of measured concentration distributions is proved except for regions near the pipe wall. The radiometric method is shown to be a useful tool for measurement of concentration distribution in slurry flow through a pipe.
This study was undertaken to assess the impact of combined sewer overflows (CSOs) on distribution and potential mobility of heavy metals in sediments of urban streams in Prague, Czech Republic. Contents of total and extractable heavy metals (Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd, Cr and Ni), mineralogical phases and other sediment properties were measured in 44 surficial sediment samples. Total metal concentrations were obtained after microwave-assisted digestion whilst extractable metal contents were obtained following a sequential extraction scheme (acid soluble, reducible, oxidisable and residual fraction). The multivariate statistics of cluster analysis was used to identify specific areas of contamination and to evaluate the impact of CSOs. The observed mobility order of metals was Cd > Zn > Ni > Cu > Pb > Cr. There was a considerable increase in Zn mobility and increase of Cu associated with the oxidisable fraction in the sediments below CSO discharges. Cd was revealed as the most mobile heavy metal with percentages of extraction of approximately 40-60% in acid soluble fraction. Pb was mainly found in reducible fraction associated with Fe/Mn (oxi)hydroxides, which is indicative of anthropogenic pollution. In terms of environmental significance, Cd and Zn can be particularly mobile and bioavailable under acidic conditions, because they are predominantly bound in labile fractions. However, potential changes of redox state and pH may remobilize the metals bound to carbonates, reducible, and/or organic matter. and Práce se zabývá vyhodnocením vlivu odlehčovacích komor jednotné kanalizace (OK) na distribuci a potenciální mobilitu těžkých kovů v sedimentech městských toků v Praze, České republice. Ve vzorcích 44 povrchových sedimentů byl stanoven obsah celkových i extrahovatelných těžkých kovů (Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd, Cr a Ni), mineralogické složení a další fyzikálně-chemické vlastnosti sedimentů. Celkový obsah kovů byl stanoven po mikrovlnném rozkladu, zatímco obsah extrahovatelných kovů byl stanoven metodou sekvenční extrakce (kyselinou extrahovatelná, redukovatelná, oxidovatelná a reziduální frakce). Pomocí mnohorozměrné shlukové analýzy byly identifikovány specifické lokality kontaminace a zhodnocen vliv OK. Zjištěná potenciální mobilita kovů klesala v pořadí Cd > Zn > Ni > Cu > Pb > Cr. V sedimentech nacházejících se na profilech pod zaústěním OK byl naměřen zvýšený obsah Zn vázajícího se na nejmobilnější frakci a zvýšený obsah Cu vázané na oxidovatelnou frakci sedimentu. Cd bylo na všech profilech shledáno nejmobilnějším kovem s vazbou na kyselinou extrahovatelnou frakci v rozmezí cca 40 až 60 %. Pb bylo vázáno převážně na redukovatelnou frakci (hydratované oxidy Fe/Mn), což indikuje antropogenní zatížení tímto kovem. Z hlediska životního prostředí představují nejvýznamnější riziko převážně Cd a Zn, které se mohou za kyselých podmínek vyskytovat v mobilních a biodostupných formách, neboť jsou nejvíce vázány na nejlabilnější složky sedimentů. Při významných změnách redoxního potenciálu a pH pak může dojít k remobilizaci kovů vázaných na karbonáty, redukovatelnou frakci i organickou hmotu.
Changes in runoff parameters are very important for Slovakia, where stream-flow discharges, being supplied by precipitation and groundwater runoff, are preferentially influenced by climatic conditions. Therefore, teleconnections between runoff parameters, climate parameters and global atmospheric drivers such as North Atlantic Oscillation, Southern Pacific Oscillation, Quasi-biennial oscillation and solar activity were studied in the Nitra River Basin, Slovakia. Research was mostly based on records of 80 years (1931-2010) for discharges and baseflow, and 34 years for groundwater heads. Methods of autocorrelation, spectral analysis, cross-correlation and coherence function were used. Results of auto-correllograms for discharges, groundwater heads and base flow values showed a very distinct 11-year and 21-year periodicity. Spectrogram analysis documented the 11-year, 7.8-year, 3.6-year and 2.4-year periods in the discharge, precipitation and air temperature time series. The same cycles except of 11-years were also identified in the long-term series of the North Atlantic Oscillation and Southern Pacific Oscillation indices. The cycle from approximately 2.3 to 2.4-years is most likely connected with Quasi-biennial oscillation. The close negative correlation between the North Atlantic Oscillation winter index and the hydrological surface and groundwater parameters can be used for their prediction within the same year and also for one year in advance.
Emotion theorists in contemporary discussion have divided into two camps. The one claims that emotions are reducible to bodily feelings; the other holds that emotions are reducible to belief, desire or evaluative judgement. In an effort to avoid such reductionist view, Goldie suggests that emotions involve two kinds of feelings: bodily feelings and feeling towards. In spite of Goldie’s efforts, I argue that explaining our emotional disposition in terms of ''feeling toward'' remains distinctly unsatisfactory. Furthermore, though sympathetic to his project, I give reasons for doubting that there are two such distinct kinds of feeling, one of which has only borrowed intentionality, while the other has intentionality intrinsically., Teoretici emocí v současné diskusi rozdělili do dvou táborů. Ten tvrdí, že emoce jsou redukovatelné na tělesné pocity; druhá si myslí, že emoce jsou redukovatelné na víru, touhu nebo hodnotící úsudek. Ve snaze vyhnout se takovému redukcionistickému pohledu Goldie navrhuje, aby emoce zahrnovaly dva druhy pocitů: tělesné pocity a pocity. Navzdory snahám Goldieho tvrdím, že vysvětlení naší emocionální dispozice ve smyslu ,,pocitu vůči'' je i nadále značně neuspokojivé.
