9292. Skin blood flowmotion and microvascular reactivity investigation in hypercholesterolemic patients with out clinically manifest arterial diseases

- Fourier spectral analysis of fore arm skin laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF) signal was performed in fifteen hypercholesterolemic patients (HP), without clinically manifest arterial diseases, and in fifteen age-matched healthy control subjects (CS), in order to investigate skin blood flowmotion (SBF). The LDF frequency intervals studied were: 0.01-1.6 Hz total spectrum, as well as 0.01-0.02 Hz (endothelial), 0.02-0. 06 Hz (sympathetic), 0.06-0.2 Hz (myogenic), 0.2-0.6 Hz (respiratory) and 0.6-1.6 Hz (cardiac). Skin microvascular reactivity (MVR ) to acetylcholine (ACh) and to sodium nitroprusside (SNP) iontophoresis was also investigated. HP showed a lower post-ACh increase in power spectral density (PSD) of the 0.01-0.02 Hz SBF subinterval compared to CS (1.80±1.73 PU 2 /Hz vs 3.59±1.78 PU 2 /Hz, respectively; p<0.005), while they did not differ in MVR from CS. In eleven HP the 0.01-0.02 Hz SBF subinterval showed a higher post-ACh PSD increase near to the statistical significance after 10 weeks of rosuvastatin therapy (10 mg/day) compared to pretreatment test (3.04±2.95 PU 2 /Hz vs 1.91±1.94 PU 2 /Hz; p=0.07). The blunted post-ACh increase in PSD of the 0.01-0.02 Hz SBF subinterval in HP suggests a skin endothelial dysfunction in these patients. - This study examines the religious composition of the population on so-called state estates, which included estates administered by an official body, but also by the Religious, Study and Endowment Fund, or Charles-Ferdinand University. The research is based on a survey event that took place on the estates in 1802 and covered a broad range of themes. For the purposes of this study only questions on religious topics were selected. For supplementary information and as a comparative source a topographical-statistical handbook compiled by J. G. Sommer in the second quarter of the 19th century was used. Analyses of the questionnaires revealed that a majority Catholic population lived on the estate. This was particularly typical of traditionally Catholic western Bohemia. Conversely, the Protestant tradition was confirmed in the eastern Bohemian estates, especially Poděbrady and Pardubice, and also the estates of Větrný Jeníkov and Středokluky. While on the estates of Pardubice and Větrný Jenikov Protestants were concentrated in particular, more or less segregated areas, in Poděbrady the co-existence of Catholics and Helvetians was quite common. In 1802 Helvetians made up almost one-third of the local population here, and a study of the registries of Poděbrady parishes shows that weddings between people of different faiths were quite frequent, constituting approximately one-quarter of all marital unions. Mixed marriages had of course a negative impact on the proportion of Protestants in the population, as the majority of children born into these families were raised as Catholics. With regard to the Jewish population, unlike the Protestants there were Jews living in most of the state estates, but the proportion of the population they represented was much lower, around less than 1%, and it was more a matter of individual families.

- Pro rok 2013 se stal evropským pavoukem roku sklípkánek hnědý (Atypus affinis). Jde o jednoho ze tří druhů sklípkanů vyskytujících se v České republice. V článku popisuji morfologii, způsob života, stanovištní nároky a rozšíření sklípkánka hnědého. Je naším nejhojnějším zástupcem rodu, vyskytuje se na suchých osluněných kamenitých stráních s řídkou stromovou vegetací. Jeho stanoviště nejsou bezprostředně ohrožena sílícím zarůstáním krajiny., The Purse-Web Spider (Atypus affinis) became the European Spider of the Year 2013. The genus Atypus comprises three species in Europe. The morphology, natural history, habitat requirements and distribution of A. affinis are described. In Central Europe, it is the most common Atypus species and it occurs on dry sunny rocky slopes with sparse woody vegetation. These habitats do not tend to be overgrown by expansive tree or grass species., and Milan Řezáč.

- Na Slovensku od roku 2009 bežiaca reforma vzdelávania výrazným spôsobom zasiahla aj vzdelávanie v oblasti prírodných vied. Vo vyučovaní fyziky (Štátny vzdelávací program Fyzika) je zo strany učiteľov ako výrazne negatívne vnímaný predovšetkým dramatický pokles povinného rozsahu výučby, ktorý sa vo fyzike znížil zhruba na polovicu. Na druhej strane za pozitívum možno pokladať zvýšený dôraz na rozvoj zručnosti a schopností žiakov v oblasti tzv. prírodovedného bádania, čo súvisi predovšetkým s experimentovaním a väčšou mierou zapojenia žiaka do samotného procesu objavovania a odhaI'ovania fyzikálnych zákonov a vzájomných súvislostí. Tieto trendy v súčasnosti v širokej miere dominujú aj európskym vzdelávacím systémom, ktoré v oblasti prírodných vied najčastejšie skloňujú pojem „Inquiry-based science education" (IBSE). Príspevok analyzuje hlavné princípy tohto spôsobu výučby a problémy, ktoré súvisia s implementáciou do vyučovania., The new curriculum reform running at all basic and secondary schools in Slovakia from 2009 has significantly affected science education. One of the consequences in physics education (defined by State curriculum for Physics) is a dramatic decrease in the number of compulsory lessons leading to a drop by 50%. On the other hand, in particular in science education, attention is paid to the scientific inquiry with emphasis on experimentation and students‘ active independent learning. These trends are in good correspondence with the large European movement based on the implementation of lnquiry Based Science Education (lBSE). - Ray-finned fishes (Actinopterygii) are by far the most diversified group of vertebrates on Earth, and there are currently more than 32500 valid species in about 500 families and 72 orders. The diversity of ray-finned fishes has increased dramatically during their evolution, particularly in the modern group of Percomorpha. This also includes high morphological diversity of body shapes. However, in many cases similar morphological structures have evolved in different groups independently (by convergence). Recently, fish phylogeny has been reconstructed based on molecular genetic data, including whole genome sequencing. In this issue we present two articles on general relationships among the main lineages of fishes and the current version of the phylogeny of the ray-finned fishes. and Zuzana Musilová.
