Otázky "kdo?" a "proč?" volí tu či onu stranu představují jednu z nejfrekventovanějších oblastí sociální politiky. Ba co více, často jsou zároveň předmětem velkého zájmu široké veřejnosti a médií. The article dedicates to the results of prosopographic study realized on the example of three female conventual congregations for the second half of the nineteenth and the first half of the twentieth century. The Center of Global Studies (joint project of the Institute of Philosophy of the AS CR and the Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University in Prague) organized a two-day seminar entitled Social Aspects of Globalization. The present study focuses on the vertical social mobility in the cities of the Early Modern Era. On the example of the city Slaný it demonstrates the mechanism through which the burghers tried to gain entrance to the elite stratum.
