V Senátu Parlamentu ČR se 28. března 2014 uskutečnil kulatý stůl na téma využití evropských strukturálních a investičních fondů (European Structural and Investment Funds - ESIF) v oblasti výzkumu a vzdělávání, a to především v souvislosti s podfinancováním sektoru VaV v Praze. Jednání iniciovala Akademie věd ČR ve spolupráci s pražskými vysokými školami, aby upozornila na vážnost situace. The symbol of the contemporary Czech state, the last Czechoslovak and the first Czech president Václav Havel died on December 18, 2011.
