122. Seussapex, a new genus of lecanicephalidean tapeworm (Platyhelminthes: Cestoda) from the stingray genus Himantura (Myliobatiformes: Dasyatidae) in the Indo-West Pacific with investigation of mode of attachment

- A new lecanicephalidean genus, Seussapex gen. n., is erected for specimens collected from stingrays from the Indo-West Pacific resembling the little known species Tenia [sic] narinari MacCallum, 1917 from the spotted eagle ray, Aetobatus narinari (Euphrasen). Members of this new genus are unique in their possession of a multi-tiered apical structure comprising a bipartite apical modification of the scolex proper, and an externally bipartite apical organ with anterior and posterior glandular compartments internally. The appearance of the scolex varies dramatically depending on state of protrusion and/or evagination of these different parts which appear to be able to function independently. Seussapex karybares sp. n. parasitizing Himantura uarnak 2 (sensu Naylor et al., 2012) in northern Australia is described as the type species and Tenia [sic] narinari is transferred to the new genus. The two species differ in scolex length and width of the posterior dome-shaped portion of the apical organ. Histological sections of scoleces stained using the periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) reaction showed the surface of the anterior part of the apical organ and the anterior glandular compartment to stain PAS positive, suggesting a chemical mode of attachment to the host's intestinal mucosal surface. Extensive collecting efforts of stingrays in the Indo-West Pacific shows Seussapex gen. n. to be restricted to species of Himantura Müller et Henle and suggests additional diversity in this group of hosts. In addition, the host identity of Seussapex narinari (MacCallum, 1917) comb. n. is called into question.

123. Seven new montane species of Drosophila in the Eastern Arc mountains and Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania attesting to past connections between eastern and western African mountains (Diptera: Drosophilidae)

- This report describes 7 new species of Drosophila found in the Eastern Arc mountains and on Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania: D. baucipyga, D. gata, D. kilimanjarica, D. neogata, D. paragata, D. pilocornuta and D. usambarensis spp.n. Two new species complexes, the megapyga species complex (Sophophora subgenus, melanogaster group, montium subgroup) and the gata species complex (Drosophila subgenus) are introduced. Only one species, D. baucipyga of the montium subgroup, has a geographical range matching the whole Eastern Arc, from the Usambara Mts. in the north-east of Tanzania to Mt. Uzungwa in the south-south west of the country. Five others, including one representative of the dentissima group of the Sophophora subgenus, D. usambarensis, and four representatives of the Drosophila subgenus, D. gata, D. neogata, D. paragata and D. pilocornuta, were found only in the Usambara Mts. Two of these five, D. usambarensis and D. pilocornuta were found only in West-Usambara, while two other related species, D. gata and D. paragata, were found only in East-Usambara. Only the distribution of D. neogata covers the whole of the Usambara mountains. Outside the Eastern Arc, another representative of the dentissima group, D. kilimanjarica, was found only on Mount Kilimanjaro. This new, highly specific, montane fauna of Drosophila further contributes to the unique biological diversity of the Eastern Arc Mts. The biogeographic affinities of the new taxa suggest past connections with the Virunga and Ruwenzori ranges and further west with the Cameroon Volcanic Line. It indicates, in particular, that the Eastern Arc forests have passed through a succession of coalescence and fragmentation events.

- Two new, one known and three unidentified species of the nematode family Camallanidae are reported and described from the intestines of marine perciform fishes off the southwestern coast of New Caledonia, South Pacific: Camallanus carangis Olsen, 1952 from the forked-tailed threadfin bream Nemipterus furcosus (Nemipteridae), the yellowstriped goatfish Upeneus vittatus and the whitesaddle goatfish Parupeneus ciliatus (both Mullidae) (new host records); Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) variolae sp. n. from the white-edged lyretail Variola albimarginata (type host) and the blacktip grouper Epinephelus fasciatus (both Serranidae); Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) longus sp. n. from the twotone tang Zebrasoma scopas (Acanthuridae); Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) sp. 1 (female tail with 2 terminal spikes on a digit-like projection) from the speckled sandperch Parapercis hexophtalma (Pinguipedidae); Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) sp. 2 (female tail with 1 spike on a digit-like projection) from the drab emperor Lethrinus ravus (Lethrinidae) and Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) sp. 3 (female tail with a smooth digit-like protrusion) from the two-lined monocle bream Scolopsis bilineata (Nemipteridae). Camallanus paracarangis Velasquez, 1980 is synonymized with C. carangis. Several additional species of Camallanus from marine fish of the Indo-Pacific region may be synonymous with C. carangis as it has a poorly sclerotized left spicule and 3 small caudal projections on the tail of young (i.e., non-gravid) females. The fourth-stage larva of C. carangis is described for the first time. P. (S.) variolae differs from most similar species of this region mainly in the position (i.e., at level or posterior to the nerve ring) and shape of deirids. P. (S.) longus differs from the similar P. (S.) chaimha mainly in a different arrangement of postanal papillae, shape of the female tail, much longer right spicule (429 µm) and longer body of gravid females (38-55 mm). All Camallanus and Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) spp. reported here represent the first records of camallanids from marine fishes in New Caledonian waters.

- In this paper six new species of the genus Brachystomella Ågren from the Neotropical region are described : B. desutterae sp. n. (Peru), B. mataraniensis sp. n. (Peru), B. pefauri sp. n. (Venezuela), B. purma sp. n. (Peru), B. saladaensis sp. n. (Argentina) and B. zerpa sp. n. (Venezuela). Brachystomella honda Christiansen & Bellinger, 1988 is synonymised with Brachystomella baconaoensis Gruia, 1983. Diagnoses and comments on the original descriptions as well as remarks on 22 species are included.

- Aphis hieracii Schrank (apterous and alate viviparous female, ovipara, male) is defined, along with description of three new species: A. heiei sp. n. (apt. and al; viv. fem.) on Hieracium umbellatum from Denmark, A. curtiseta sp. n. (apt. viv. fem., fundatrix, ovipara and male) on Hieracium (Pilosella) spp. from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Moldova and the Ukraine (Crimea), and Aphis mohelnensis sp. n. (apt. and al. viv. fem.) on H. (P.) echioides from the Czech Republic, H. (P.) bauhinii from Bulgaria and H. virosum from Uzbekistan. The latter species differs from A. hieracii in having a long ultimate rostral segment, shorter processus terminalis and, in alate females, more numerous secondary rhinaria. Additonal notes on taxonomy, host plants and distribution of A. hieracii and A. pilosellae are given. Records of Aphis fabae s. lat, and A. frangulae s. lat, on Hieracium spp., are reviewed and a key to the seven species of Aphis on Hieracium is provided.

127. Sphaeromyxa artedielli sp. n. (Myxozoa: Sphaeromyxidae), a parasite of sculpins (Cottidae) in northern Norway

- Sphaeromyxa artedielli sp. n. is described from the gall bladder of the Atlantic hookear sculpin Artediellus atlanticus Jordan et Evermann (Cottidae; type host) from northern Norway. The parasite was also found to infect Triglops murrayi Günther (Cottidae). Spores are produced in disporic pansporoblasts in large flat plasmodia. Spores are straight and fusiform with truncated ends, and measure 16.5-18.7 µm × 4.9-6.2 µm. Valves are thick, striated and suture line is straight. Two equal ovoid polar capsules measure 4.2-6.8 µm × 2.9-4.4 µm and contain irregularly folded polar filaments. Distinctive features include spore shape and size, spore length/width relationship, striated valves, equal polar capsules and a short intercapsular distance. Sphaeromyxa bonaerensis Timi et Sardella, 1998, Sphaeromyxa cannolii Sears, Anderson et Greiner, 2011, and Sphaeromyxa sevastopoli Naidenova, 1970 produce straight spores with truncated ends that are of similar length as those of the new species. Sphaeromyxa cannolii differs in showing smooth spores with unequal polar capsules. The new species differs from S. bonaerensis and S. sevastopoli in significantly wider spores and polar capsules. Sphaeromyxa balbianii Thélohan, 1892, a species originally described with significantly smaller spores than S. artedielli sp. n., has previously been recorded from T. murrayi. We show that S. artedielli sp. n. differs from S. balbianii from the type host Gaidropsarus vulgaris (Cloquet) by its SSU rDNA sequence, and suggest that Atlantic records of Sphaeromyxa spp. from T. murrayi represent S. artedielli sp. n. The closest relative to S. artedielli sp. n. according to the SSU rDNA sequences, S. longa Dunkerly, 1921, differs clearly by spore size and shape. In the SSU rDNA-based phylogenetic analyses, S. artedielli sp. n. groups with other Sphaeromyxa spp. with straight spores and truncated ends in a clade that represents a sister-group to Sphaeromyxa spp. with arcuate spores and rounded ends. Our results indicate that an SSU rDNA pseudogene is present in S. balbianii.

- a1_Based on light and scanning electron microscopical studies, eight species (five adult and three larval) of nematodes belonging to the Ascaridida, Oxyurida and Enoplida were collected from fishes of the Okavango River, Botswana, namely Falcaustra similis Moravec et Van As, 2004, Atractidae gen. sp. (only female) (both Cosmocercoidea), Cucullanus sp. (only female) (Seuratoidea), Cithariniella longicaudata sp. n., Synodontisia annulata sp. n. (both Oxyuroidea), Contracaecum sp. third-stage larvae, third-stage larvae of Galeiceps sp. (both Ascaridoidea) and Eustrongylides sp. fourth-stage larvae (Dioctophymatoidea). The new species Citharinella longicaudata (type host Schilbe intermedius Rüppel) is mainly characterised by the shape and size of cephalic papillae and the spicule 108 µm long, and Synodontisia annulata (type host S. intermedius) by the shape of cephalic papillae, body length of gravid females (4.88-5.33 mm) and a short spicule (66 µm long). The female specimen of Cucullanus sp. from Tilapia sparmanni Smith markedly differs from congeners parasitising inland fishes in Africa by the elongate pseudobuccal capsule and by the excretory pore far posterior to the oesophago-intestinal junction; apparently, it belongs to an undescribed species. Galeiceps larvae parasitising fishes are described for the first time. Cithariniella gonzalezi Van Waerebeke, Chabaud, Bain et Georges, 1988 is considered a junior synonym of C. khalili Petter, Vassiliadès et Troncy, 1972, and the previous records of Cithariniella citharini Khalil, 1964 from Synodontis spp. in Egypt concern, in fact, Cithariniella khalili Petter, Vassiliadès et Troncy, 1972., a2_The specimens of Cithariniella reported by Koubková et al. 129. Systematics and biogeography of the Indo-Malaysian endemic Neochauliodes sundaicus species-group (Megaloptera: Corydalidae)

- The Neochauliodes sundaicus species-group is newly proposed, containing six species and endemic to Indo-Malaysia. All six species are described and illustrated, including two new species: Neochauliodes parvus Liu, Hayashi & Flint, sp. n. and N. peninsularis Liu, Hayashi & Flint, sp. n. Full species status is given to N. maculatus Stitz, 1914, stat. n. and N. borneensis van der Weele, 1909, stat. n. A cladistic analysis is conducted to reconstruct the species level phylogeny of the N. sundaicus group based on the morphological data. Combining the present morphological phylogeny and historical geography of Indo-Malaysia, the origin and speciation of this species-group is briefly discussed.

- The genus Aesalus F., 1801 of the family Lucanidae in the Himalayas is reviewed, and a new species, A. saburoi sp. n., is described from Central Nepal. This new species has been confused with A. himalayicus Kurosawa 1985, but differs from the latter mainly by a darker and broader body, and by different shapes of the intercoxal process of the prosternum and of male genitalia. The male of A. himalayicus sensu stricto is described for the first time and the male genitalia are illustrated. A key to the members of the genus Aesalus from the Himalayas is provided.
