The basics of the laser driven inertial fusion are explained. The meaning of scaling laws governing both the direct and indirect drive is illustrated in the context of the world largest laser projects NIF (USA) and LMJ (France) aiming at igniting thermonuclear targets. Demands on power station grade laser drivers are given in the light of arrival of YAG nanoceramics as a future laser material for high power, high repetition rate pulsed laser system. Tentative predictions are made for the future of major EU laser projects HiPER and ELI., Karel Rohlena., and Obsahuje bibliografii
Kompaktní toroidální magnetické nádoby pro uchovávání termojaderného plazmatu mají poměr velkého a malého poloměru (aspect ratio) blízký jedničce. Ačkoli jsou považovány za termojaderná zařízení vyvíjená a studovaná mimo hlavní proud výzkumu termojaderné fúze, jejich zkoumání rozhodně má svoji cenu., This article looks for common features of magnetic confinement methods for high temperature plasmas such as spherical-tokamak, plasma focus, spheromak and Field Reversed Configuration (FRC). Most members of this series of methods make significant use of the self-organized magnetic field in plasmas. The self-organized magnetic field in plasmas is commonly found in the universe. In the laboratory, the self-organized magnetic field in plasmas is used by some private companies engaged in thermonuclear fusion., Milan Řípa., and Obsahuje bibliografii
První roky výzkumu řízené termojaderné fúze probíhaly ve znamení lineárních nebo toroidálních Z-pinčů, stelarátorů a tokamaků. Základním problémem všech projektů byly nestability, které bránily dosažení potřebných teplot, a vzájemná informační opona mezi laboratořemi v USA, UK a SSSR. Článek popisuje situaci ve třech zemích a hledá odpověď na otázku: "Z-pinč, tokamak - blízcí příbuzní? Kde se jejich cesty rozdělily?", The early years of thermonuclear fusion research used both linear and/or toroidal Z-pinches, stellarators and tokamaks. We discuss in this paper the basic problem of instabilities preventing formation of the required temperature and also the information curtain between US, UK and USSR laboratories. We also try to answer the question "Where exactly did the roads of Z-pinch and tokamak divide?"., Milan Řípa., and Obsahuje bibliografii
