Prezentujeme náš postup při léčbě třicetiletého pacienta s touto vzácně se vyskytující vrozenou malformací a objemnou nefrolitiázou, uvádíme přehled dostupné literatury a nabízíme možná vysvětlení., The present study reports a horseshoe kidney with a single collecting system and a crossed single ureter associated with pyelolythiasis. An association of a crossed single ureter and a horseshoe kidney has only been mentioned in four previous reports in the available English literature worldwide. We present our management of a 30‑year‑old patient with this rare congenital malformation and a large stone burden together with a review of the current available literature and suggest explanation., and Sabler I. - V naší kazuistice prezentujeme případ 11leté pacientky s akutní bolestí bederní páteře, pánve a proximální části levého stehna. Třífázová scintigrafie skeletu s nálezem zvýšené akumulace 99mTc-hydroxydifosfonátu v levém sakroiliakálním skloubení napomohla k diagnóze levostranné septické sakroileitidy. Hemokultivace byla pozitivní, etiologicky byl zjištěn Staphylococcus aureus. Parenterální antibiotická terapie vedla k poklesu zánětlivých parametrů, snížení bolestivosti. Pro zformování abscesu mezi levou lopatou kosti kyčelní a musculus iliacus byla provedena v celkové anestézii jeho evakuace. - This paper presents a new method for the determination of the volume, surface area and depth of skin defects. The method is based on the description of a spatial defect using a pyramid (made, for example, from injection needles), which is placed over the defect. The projection of the pyramid on to the defect is photographed using a digital camera and subsequently compared with the projection of the same pyramid on to a sheet of grid paper. The defect is mathematically reconstructed on a computer, and an optimal body shape describing the defect is found, using a number of simplifications and assumptions. The method was then validated using a plaster mold of a real foot with 19 defects simulating real wounds. These plaster wounds were molded using alginate hydrocolloid, and the volume, surface area and depth were measured and compared with the results of the pyramid projection by means of regression analysis. This method correlates in all variables with correlation coefficients higher than 0.9. 31547. Pyrogallol induces apoptoses in human platelets

- Pyrogallol is a polyphenol that generates the superoxide anion. In this study, we investigated the influence of pyrogallol on human platelets. Our data showed that exposure of platelets to pyrogallol induced numerous manifestations of apoptosis including depolarization of mitochondrial inner membrane and release of cytochrome c from the mitochondria. Pyrogallol also induced downstream extra-mitochondrial apoptotic responses, including activation of caspase-3 and phosphatidylserine exposure on the outer leaflet of the plasma membrane. Addition of glutathione significantly rescued cells from pyrogallol-induced apoptosis, as evidenced by a decrease of all markers of apoptosis. Thus, pyrogallol appears to produce depletion of intracellular glutathione content in platelets, the main non-protein antioxidant in the cells. Furthermore, inhibition of γ-glutamyl trans-peptidase, an enzyme that plays the main role in the cellular supply of glutathione, reverted the glutathione (GSH) protection over platelet apoptosis. - Pyroptosis is a form of cell death associated with inflammation. In the maintenance of airway homeostasis, pyroptosis goes through activation and assembly of Inflammasome. The pyroptosis pathway is mediated by caspase which activates the pore-forming effect of substrate gasdermin family members. It eventually leads to lysis and release of the cell contents and then induces an inflammatory response. In this process, it participates in airway homeostasis regulation by affecting airway immunity, airway epithelial structure and airway microbiota. Therefore, we discussed the correlation between airway immunity, airway epithelial structure, airway microbiota and the mechanism of pyroptosis to describe the role of pyroptosis in airway homeostasis regulation which is of great significance for understanding the occurrence and treatment of airway inflammatory diseases

- The already announced páper presents continuation of the serial of articles concerning the simple parallel scalable benchmark code. The new Pythagorean triples core has been implemented, tested and used for measurement. Several preliminary tests have shown suitability of the core routines for benchmark practice. The Pythagorean triples core extends functional properties of the scalable benchmark code, i.e. primes core functionality. A group of six performance routines has been tested. Four Pythagorean triple generators/selectors have signifficant run time over the elapsed time window. The routines of significant run time have been taken into the final test of hardware performance. Performance routines are in generál of two types. Four routines generate numerical values by a mathematical formula. Two routines have been implemented selecting Pythagorean triples by means of testing the difference of squares of triangle side lengths. Three hardware platforms have been tested: PC 486, an old type of Pentium, belongs to one of the first Pentium models of serial production (called here shortly archaic Pentium) and one of the highest performance Pentium 900 still used in the computational world for graphical animation.
