2. Effects of posttraumatic stress and combat losses on the combatants’ resilience

Objectives. At the beginning of the War in East-ern Ukraine, military personnel of the Armed Forces, National Guard of Ukraine (NGU), and soldiers of volunteer battalions, who had no combat experience for the first time faced the death of their comrades. This study aims to de-termine the effects of posttraumatic stress and combat losses on the mental health of combat-ants and to develop the typology of their resil-ience to extreme events.Sample and settings.N = 117 NGU male offic-ers (76% of contract military members and 24% of officers) participated in the study. These com-batants were withdrawn from the combat zone in June 2014 due to combat losses and the death of the unit commander.Hypothesis. After participating in hostilities, military personnel developed different types of personality resilience to the effects of traumatic stress.Statistical analyses. The participants’ typification of resilience and adaptation to extreme events was determined by hierarchical cluster analysis. The differences between groups in mean values were determined using Student’s t-test.Results. Four types of personality resilience to combat stressors were identified: “Those who predicted danger” (68.38%), “Those who were open to danger” (21.37%), “Those who identified themself with the role of the vic-tim” (6.83%), and “Those who hid their fear” (3.42%). The results showed that self-identifi-cation of a personality with symptoms of acute stress disorder affects the features of the imple-mentation of the anxiety buffer role. Limitations. The conclusions on the anxiety buffer role for the formation of PTSD require clarification and further studies. and Cíle. Na začátku války na východní Ukrajině vojáci ukrajinské armády (NGU – Národní gar-da Ukrajiny) a vojáci dobrovolnických praporů, kteří neměli bojové zkušenosti, se poprvé setka-li se smrtí svých spolubojovníků. Cílem tohoto výzkumu bylo zjistit dopady posttraumatického stresu a ztrát v boji na mentální zdraví vojáků a vytvořit typologii jejich resilience vůči extrém-ním událostem.Soubor. Výzkumu se zúčastnilo 117 mužů – dů-stojníků NGU (76 % smluvních vojáků a 24 % důstojníků z povolání). Tito vojáci byli staže-ni z bojové zóny v červnu 2014 kvůli ztrátám v boji a smrti velitele jednotky.Hypotéza. Po účasti v bojích si vojáci vyvinuli různé typy osobní resilience vůči dopadům trau-matického stresu.Statistická analýza. Typologizace resilience účastníků výzkumu a adaptace na extrémní události byla určena hierarchickou trsovou ana-lýzou. Získaná data byla popsána základními popisnými statistikami. Rozdíly mezi skupina-mi ve středních hodnotách byly zjištěny Studen-tovým t-testem.Výsledky. Byly vyčleněny čtyři typy resilience osobnosti vůči bojovým stresorům: „Ti, kdo predikovali nebezpečí“ (68,38 %), „Ti, kdo byli otevřeni nebezpečí“ (21,37 %), „Ti, kdo se identifikovali s rolí oběti“ (6,83 %), a „Ti, kdo skryli svůj strach“ (3,42 %). Výsledky ukázaly, že sebeidentifikace osoby se symptomy akutní stresové poruchy ovlivňuje prvky realizace ná-razníkové role úzkosti.Omezení studie. Závěry o nárazníkové roli úz-kosti pro utváření PTSD vyžadují objasnění a další výzkumy.

Jednotlivé funkce maticeC4ISTAR jsou tradiční součástí činnosti armád. Jejich vzájemnou integrací je dosaženo systémové architektury C4ISTAR, která přináší zásadní multiplikační efekt schopností a možností vojenských jednotek. Nyní jsou tyto typy kompletů vyžadovány i pro malé jednotky NATO. Jejich použití je v rámci zahraničních misí nutností, a proto je zavedla do výzbroje i Armáda České republiky (AČR). Článek se zabývá komplety PK JTAC, RK FAC a OK FO, které jsou nasazeny v rámci českých týmů OMLT a PRT na území Afghánistánu a tvoří společně soupravu PS TACP. Jejich hlavním posláním je podporovat užití prostředků palebné podpory NATO (letectvo, dělostřelectvo) a působit ve prospěch vojskového zpravodajství. Obě tyto funkce jsou klíčové i pro využití těchto kompletů při obraně území České republiky. and The particular functions of the C4ISTAR kit are traditional part of the armed forces activities. By their reciprocal integration is reached the C4ISTAR systematic architecture, which is bringing the principal multiplication effect of military units´ abilities and possibilities. Nowadays, these types of the sets are required for the small NATO units too. Their use within the foreign missions scope is necessary and this is the reason why the Army of the Czech Republic also has incorporated them into its weaponry. The article deals with the PK JTAC, RK FAC and OK FO kits, which are deployed in the Afghanistan area within the Czech OMLT and PRT teams. The primary task of these kits is both the support of use of the NATO Fire Support resources (the aircraft, the artillery) and being beneficial to the military intelligence. Both these functions also are crucial for the utilisation of these kits in the Czech Republic area.

Nedávno jsme v tomto časopise (JMO 4/2009) v článku nazvaném''Před pořízením systému vojáka pro AČR'', popsali náš názor na projekt tzv. systému vojáka, v AČR tehdy pojmenovaný jako ''Voják 21.století''. Nyní je tento projekt veden v Armádě České republiky (AČR) pod názvem modulární bojový komplet (MBK). I náš pohled doznal za uplynulé dva roky určitého posunu, který se odrazil i v návrhu řešení, jež označujeme zkratkou BIG-OŠ, tedy Battlefield Integrated Groups - organizace a školení. Kombinací anglického a českého názvu chceme vyjádřit jak naše národní specifikace a požadavky, tak i skutečnost, že je tento systém připraven na použití v rámci vojenských struktur NATO. Tomuto přístupu odpovídá i systémové složení kompletu, jež vhodně kombinuje národní a alianční prvky a technologie. Tento přístup zde chceme stručně představit. and Recently we described in the JMO journal article, called ''Before acquisition of the soldier system for the Czech Army'', our estimation of so-called the soldier system project, in the Czech Army known like ''Soldier 21st century''. Nowadays, this project is registered under the designation Modular Combat Set (MBK) in the Czech Army. Our view has reached certain shift for last two years and that reflected the proposal of solution, which we have marked like BIG-OŠ - Battlefield Integrated Groups - the organization and training. By the combination English and Czech appellation we want to expresses both our national specification and requirements and the fact that this system is ready for use within the scope of the NATO military configuration. The attitude corresponds to the systematic structure of the set, which combines appropriately not only the national and alliance factors but also the technologies. We would like to introduce the above mentioned attitude briefly in the following text.
