Autor výše uvedené recenze (Na pomezí historického románu. In: Soudobé dějiny, roč. 22, č. 3-4, 2015,, s. 524-539) knihy Igora Lukeše Československo nad propastí, respektive On the Edge of the Cold War, tímto příspěvkem reaguje na Lukešovu polemiku. Sám stručně polemizuje s různými body Lukešovy argumentace a uzavírá, že na své recenzi by nezměnil vůbec nic, protože Igor Lukeš nevyvrátil žádnou z jeho námitek a řadu dalších ignoroval., In this contribution, the autor or the review of Igor Lukeš´s On the Edge of the Cold War (''Na pomezí historického románu'' [Almost a Historical Novel], Soudobé dějiny, vol. 22 (2015), nos. 3-4, pp. 254-39), which is under discussion here, reacts to Lukeš´s rejoinder. He briefly takes issue with various points of Lukeš´s argument and concludes that he would not change a single thing in his review, because Lukeš ignores a number of objections and elsewhere fails to provide satisfactory counterarguments for others., Vít Smetana., and Obsahuje bibliografii a bibliografické odkazy
From the 1960s to the 1990s, Petr Pithart (b. 1941) was a leading dissident. After the Changes beginning in late 1989 he became Premier of the Czech Government and, later, was for years the Speaker or Deputy Speaker of the Czech Senate. He is also the author of a number of books about politics and modern Czech history. In his most recent publication, whose title translates as "After Eighty-nine: Recollections and meditations" (the third volume of Pithart´s collected works), he considers his role in the period from February 1990, when he was elected Czech Premier, to the defeat his party, the Citizen´s Movement (Občanské hnutí), in the general elections of June 1992. The reviewer notes in particular the passages devoted to the division of powers between the Czech and Slovak governments on the one hand and the Federal Government on the other, the scenarios for economic reform, the privatization of industries, and politics in practice. According to the reviewer, Pithart moves in this publicaton between self-criticism and self-defence and is at his strongest when he avoids moralizing and sticks instead to factual description., [autor recenze] Adéla Gjuričová., and Obsahuje bibliografii a bibliografické odkazy
In this work of comparative history, which was originally written as his dissertation at Lund University, the Danish historian Sune Bechmann Pedersen focuses on the creation of the meaning of the Communist past in Czech and German films since the Changes beginning in late 1989. His stated aim is to explain the relationship between the Communist past, post-Communist cinematography, and "history culture" (Geschichtskultur) in Germany and the Czech Republic. Rather than its analysis of the individual films, what the reviewer finds most interesting about the book is the author´s having placed the films in the context of contemporary debates. Despite the absence of television series in his analysis and his lack of knowledge about some important Czech publications on the topic, the author has, according to the reviewer, produced an interesting and useful comparative work that offers a fresh look from outside with a broad scope., [autor recenze] Cyril Poliačik., and Obsahuje bibliografické odkazy
