- Subject:

- Language:

- Description:
- Cílem tohoto příspěvku je přednést některá témata a nastínit některé metodologické problémy současného psychologického výzkumu psychického vývoje osobnosti v různých kulturách. V části věnované některým úskalím metodologie zmiňuje článek otázku konceptualizace pojmů kultura a osobnost, problematičnost nároků na univerzálnost vývojových teorií vzniklých v euroamerickém prostředí a některé navrhované metodologické potupy, jak bez předpojatosti zkoumat vývoj osobnosti v nezápadních kulturách. Dále přibližuje různé kritiky stadiálních teorií vývoje a navrhované nové přístupy výzkumu, které mají vysvětlovat vývoj, ne pouze popisovat statické stavy v různých stádiích vývoje. V části věnované některým tématům výzkumu se kromě krátké zmínky o hlavních tématech (např. výzkum emocionálního, morálního a spirituálního vývoje) zaměřuje hlavně na pojetí Self a uvádí též současná vysvětlení kulturních rozdílů v pojetí Self, nový model C. Kagitcibaciové: autonomous-related Self, včetně socio-ekonomických vlivů na vznik tohoto pojetí Self. and The aim of this paper is to present some of the topics and some of the methodological problems of current psychological research regarding psychological development of personality in different cultures. The methodology section mentions the problems associated with the very concepts of culture and personality, the problematic claims to universality of evolutionary theories arising from the Euro-American environment as well as some of the proposed ways to study personality development in non-Western cultures without bias. It also gives some insight into various criticisms of the theory of evolution by stages as well as into some new research approaches proposed that aim to explain development, not only describe static states at different stages of development. The thematic section, after having briefly mentioned the main issues (eg. research on emotional, moral and spiritual development), focuses mainly on the concept of Self. It also presents an explanation of cultural differences in the concept of Self - the new model by C. Kagitcibaci: an autonomous - related Self, including socio-economic impact on the formation of this concept of Self.

14. Kultura, gender a imigrace: sociálněpsychologické hledisko socializace indických imigrantů ve Spojených státech amerických

- Format:

- Type:
- model:article and TEXT
- Subject:
- culture, gender identity, and immigration
- Language:
- Czech
- Description:
- The aim of this paper is to discuss theoretical approaches of gender role studies in the context of immigration. In the first part of this paper are defined three interrelated aspects of an immigrant's social experience: representation of culture; social location and marginality; idealized cultural identities. The main part of this paper focuses on a minority group of Indian immigrants in the USA. A few Indian mythological stories (The myth of Ekalaivya, The story of Pativirda and Pattini) help us to understand the specifics of Indian culture (the social class differences and the cast system). The second part of this paper focuses on the gender role of Indian men and women in the context of immigration. Some authors propose an intersectionality perspective for the study of gender, which argues for the need to study gender in relation to race, ethnicity, social class and sexual orientation. The last part of this paper describes the results of R. Mahalingam's research of gender roles of second-generation Indian women. Finally, some of the results of R. Mahalingam's research are compared to the results with similar methodological framework which was done in the Czech Republic in 2004.

- Subject:
- Dějiny Asie. Orient, lesy, stromy, kultura, starověk, forests, trees, culture, antiquity, Čína, China, 8, and 94(5)
- Language:
- Czech
- Description:
- The article traces the role and image of the wood and the tree in the culture of Ancient China as emerging from the transmitted literature of the Warring States period. Although this topic has already been touched upon in some previous studies, such as Mark Elvin's The Retreat of the Elephants, no comprehensive description based on at least nearly exhaustive systematization of respective data available to us in primary sources has been presented yet, especially for trees. In this paper, virtually all recorded modes of approaching the phenomena by the learned men of the Warring States are summarized and supplied with extensive reference to ancient texts. Apart from other issues, it clearly demonstrates that the skeptical stance to ancient Chinese love for nature and to the ecological ethos of traditional Chinese culture is highly justified., Lukáš Zádrapa., and Obsahuje bibliografii

16. ln vitro cultivation of the human microsporidium Vittaforma corneae: development and effect of albendazole
- Creator:
- Silvera, H. and Canning, E. U.
- Format:
- Type:
- model:internalpart and TEXT
- Subject:
- Vittaforma comeae, life cycle, culture, antimicrosporidial drugs, and ultrastructure abnormalities
- Language:
- English
- Description:
- When in vitro growth of Vittaforma comeae was tested using MDCK, MRC-5, XEN, L-929 and FHM cell lines, propagation occurred only in MDCK, MRC-5 and XEN cells. The intervals required for the various stages of the life cycle to develop were the same in all the cell lines tested. The MDCK cell line was selected to support the growth of V. comeae in vitro and provide the system for in vitro testing of drugs. The weekly output of V. comeae spores from the MDCK cell monolayer was monitored over a 61-week period during which there were fluctuations but no definite increase or decrease in output. Albendazole at 2.1 or 4.2 pg/ml in MEM was tested against V. comeae in MDCK cell monolayers and showed antimicrosporidial activity. The percentage of infected cells was reduced in the presence of the drug and there were ultrastmctural abnormalities in all stages of the life cycle. The drug prevents parasite division.

- Description:
- Of all the peoples of the world, the Chinese are the most famous for their historical-mindedness. They owe this reputation primarily to their unique traditional historiography. Its main genre is that of Standard Histories ( cheng shih 正史), which first emerged early in the first century B.C. and which were compiled for more than two millennia. The genre was first created and developed through the efforts of two Han historians. Ssu-ma Ch’ien 司馬遷 (145? – 86? B.C.) initiated it by writing the Shih chi 史記 (“Records of the Historian” [or, to be more exact, “the Astrologer”]), the first general history of the Chinese oecumene; whereas Pan Ku 班固 (A.D. 32 – 92) modified the genre by writing his Han shu 漢書 (“Han History”), the first history of a single dynasty. All in all, twenty-five Standard Histories were compiled. For the most part they are histories of one dynasty, like Han shu, but some of them are histories of several dynasties. The Shih chi and Han shu became models for later generations and greatly influenced traditional historians of China as well as of other countries of the region affected by Chinese culture, such as Korea and Japan. The cultural significance of the Shih chi is especially great. Suffice it to say that within its framework, Ssu-ma Ch’ien created the earliest samples of Chinese biographies that have come down to us. The possibility they are the first biographies written in China cannot be ruled out.
