Standardní léčba pokročilého maligního melanomu se v posledních letech zásadně změnila. Používaná chemoterapie a imunoterapie před rokem 2011 nebyla schopna významně prodloužit život našich pacientů. K pokroku dochází až díky cílené léčbě (BRAF a MEK inhibitory) a moderní imunoterapii (protilátky proti molekulám CTLA-4 a potenciálně PD-1/PD-L1). Kombinace cílených preparátů jsou intenzivně studovány, úkolem je oddálit nebo zabránit vývoji lékové rezistence a progrese onemocnění.
