Fianoniella stenognatha sp. n. from the Columbretes Islands (Castellón, Spain) is described and illustrated. The new species is distinguished by its longer and narrower mandibles with parallel or divergent rims in the apical half, wider clypeus, hind ocelli more separated and closer to the eyes, and longer flagellar segments. Additional notes to complete the original description of the closest species, F. laeviscutum (Horstmann), are given. A key to the European species of Fianoniella is provided.
European species of the genus Phradis Förster, 1869 are reviewed. A new species from Spain, Phradis mediterraneus sp. n., is described and illustrated. A key to all 24 European species and data on distribution and biology of these species are provided.
The species of the genus Tiarodes Burmeister from China are reviewed. Three species are recognized, described or redescribed, illustrated and keyed. T. venenatus Cai et Sun and T. pictus Cai et Tomokuni are described as new species. The T. versicolor (Laporte) previously reported from China by Hua is in fact T. salvazai Miller.
The Oriental genus Euchilofulvius Poppius is revised. New data concerning Euchilofulvius tibialis Poppius, the first description of the male and pictures of parameres are given. Two new species are described and illustrated: Euchilofulvius heissi and E. zdzislawi. A key to the species and a brief discussion on the systematic position of the genus are also provided.
The Metriorrhynchus fauna of the Philippines is revised. All known species are redescribed and seven new species are added: M. isarogensis sp. n., M. menieri sp. n., M. mindanaoensis sp. n., M. newbataanensis sp. n., M. ochii sp. n., M. palawanensis sp. n., and M. takedai sp. n. Additionally, M. yoshioi sp. n. is described from Sulawesi. Xylobanus longissimus Pic, 1922 is transferred to Metriorrhynchus, and Metriorrhynchus pallidus (Dalman in Schoenherr, 1818) is transferred to Leptotrichalus Kleine, 1925. The dispersal routes and speciation of Metriorrhynchus from the Philippines, Sulawesi and the Oriental Region were studied using mtDNA markers. One dispersal event is supposed for establishing of the Greater Sunda Islands fauna and another one for the Philippine fauna. Both faunas underwent speciation in the respective areas and all species show high degree of endemism. The Metriorrhynchus in Palawan is of Philippine origin in contrast with the tectonic history of Palawan and its connection with Borneo during the last glacial maximum.
The species of the genus Microtrichalus Pic, 1921 represented in the Philippines are revised. Six species are placed in the genus; in addition to M. basipennis (Pic, 1926), two species are described as new (M. retractus sp. n. and M. salvani sp. n., both from Mindanao), and three species are transferred from the genus Trichalus Waterhouse, 1877: M. bakeri (Kleine, 1929) comb. n., M. costilis (Kleine, 1926) comb. n. and M. communis (Waterhouse, 1879) comb. n. A key to the six Philippine Microtrichalus species and illustrations of their important diagnostic characters are provided. Trichalus nigricauda Bourgeois, 1886 and T. longicollis Bourgeois, 1883 are transferred to the genus Leptotrichalus Kleine, 1925. Leptotrichalus mindorosus Pic, 1925 is proposed to be a junior subjective synonym of Leptotrichalus longicollis (Bourgeois, 1883).
An annotated checklist of the tribe Mirini (Miridae: Mirinae) recorded on the Korean peninsula is presented. A total of 113 species, including newly described and newly recorded species are recognized. Three new species, Apolygus hwasoonanus Oh, Yasunaga & Lee, sp. n., A. seonheulensis Oh, Yasunaga & Lee, sp. n. and Stenotus penniseticola Oh, Yasunaga & Lee, sp. n., are described. Eight species, Apolygus adustus (Jakovlev, 1876), Charagochilus (Charagochilus) longicornis Reuter, 1885, C. (C.) pallidicollis Zheng, 1990, Pinalitopsis rhodopotnia Yasunaga, Schwartz & Chérot, 2002, Philostephanus tibialis (Lu & Zheng, 1998), Rhabdomiris striatellus (Fabricius, 1794), Yamatolygus insulanus Yasunaga, 1992 and Y. pilosus Yasunaga, 1992 are reported for the first time from the Korean peninsula. Korean specimens previously identified as Eurystylus luteus Hsaio, 1941 are correctly recognized as E. sauteri Poppius, 1915. Three new synonyms are proposed: Apolygus atriclavus Kim & Jung, 2016 syn. n. of A. xanthomelas Yasunaga & Yasunaga, 2000, A. josifovi Kim & Jung, 2016 syn. n. of A. subpulchellus (Kerzhner, 1988) and Capsus koreanus Kim & Jung, 2015 syn. n. of C. wagneri Remane, 1950. Dorsal habitus photographs of the newly described or recorded species are presented along with figures of the genitalia of the new species. Keys to Korean genera and to species of Apolygus and Stenotus are provided. Zoogeography of the East Asian Mirini fauna is also discussed., Minsuk Oh, Tomohide Yasunaga, Ram Keshari Duwal, Seunghwan Lee., and Obsahuje bibliografii
Blaena tamasi sp. n., the first species of Cydnidae with staphylinoid modification of wings, is described from Western Australia. The rare cases of wing modifications in Cydnidae and Pentatomoidea are briefly discussed. A key to all known species of the genus Blaena Walker is also provided.
The first instar larvae (triungulins) of Meloe (Meloegonius Reitter) rufiventris Germar, 1817, M. (Micromeloe Reitter) uralensis Pallas, 1777 and M. (Eurymeloe Reitter) scabriusculus Brandt & Erichson, 1832 are described, which were before unknown. The systematic relationship to closely related species is discussed. A key is included which allows to identify all triungulins of the genus Meloe from Central Europe.
Two new species of Enclisis Townes, 1970 from Spain are described and illustrated: E. dichroma sp.n. and E. schwarzi sp.n. The new species are distinguished from the closest species E. infernator and E. ornaticeps by head and leg characters and body colour. Data on their phenology and a key to these four European species are presented. External and internal scanning electron microscopy of male tyloids revealed that these structures, in both new species, have a secretory role.
