Description:

The article deals with the phenomenon of the Christian ashrams in the Southern India as specific places for the ritual behavior of the community. The author describes and analyzes factors causing the accomodation of both the Christian identity (spirituality) and formal features of religiosity within the context of major Indian culture and its spiritual life. The topic seems to be a relevant example of the process of cultural diffusion between the autochtonic and „inserted“ cultural values, whose dialogue or coexistence in the Indian multireligious milieu is unavoidable.
