Nedávno byly publikovány první výsledky dosažené pomoci metody využívající pro účely zobrazovací hmotové spektrometrie ablaci zkoumaného materiálu submikronovým svazkem extrémního ultrafialového (XUV) laseru s kapilárním výbojem., Recently, significant advantages have been demonstrated using a compact capillary discharge extreme ultraviolet (XUV) with a wavelength of 46.9 nm for mass spectrometry applications. 26.4 eV energy photons provide efficient single photon ionisation while preserving the structure of molecules and clusters. A radiation absorption depth of tens of nanometres coupled with focusing of the laser beam to -100 nm results in the ablation of atto-litre scale craters, which in turn enables high resolution mass spectral imaging of solid samples. First results obtained with this new mass spectrometry imaging method, developed and implemented at he NSF Engineering Research Center for Extreme Ultraviolet Science and Technology in Fort Collins (CO, USA), are summarised in this brief review., Tomáš Burian, Ilya Kuznetsov, Libor Juha, Jorge J. Ačkoli první vojensky použitelná výbušná zařízení využívající neřízené řetězové štěpné reakce aktinoidů byla nesporně kolektivním dílem, jež by nevzniklo bez spolupráce tisíců vědců a techniků, historie vědy a obecná historiografie je obvykle identifikují s několika vůdčími postavami. Za otce americké jaderné zbraně je tak považován Julius Robert Oppenheimer (1904-1967), sovětské pak Igor Vasiljevič Kurčatov (1903-1960) a Julij Borisovič Chariton (1904-1996), tedy fyzici. V tomto příspěvku chceme přiblížit osobnost otce izraelské jaderné bomby, jímž byl překvapivě - chemik. Ernst David Bergmann (1903-1975) měl určité vazby i k našim zemím, neboť jeho otec působil jako rabín na Moravě na přelomu 19. a 20. století a jeho nejmladší bratr do Československa ve třicátých letech emigroval a zde studoval., Although the first nuclear explosive devices based on chain fission reactions of actinoid nuclei for military purposes were developed and tested by thousands of scientists and technicians, written history associates “the bomb” only with some leading persons. Julius Robert Oppenheimer (1904-1967) was considered to be the father of the US atomic bomb, while Igor Vasilyevich Kurchatov (1903-1960) and Juliy Borisovich Khariton (1904-1996) built the first Soviet nuclear weapons. All three of these men were physicists. In this contribution, we would like to introduce the father of the Israeli nuclear bomb who was, surprisingly, a chemist. Ernst David Bergmann (1903- 1975) also had some connections to our country. His father served as a rabbi in Moravia at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century and his youngest brother studied in Czechoslovakia in the 1930’s, as a refugee from Hitler’s Germany., and Libor Juha.
The discovery of the ruby laser by Theodore Maiman in Malibu, CA on 16 May 1960, triggered extensive work around the world to make lasers. In the former Czechoslovakia, the first laser was successfully designed, built and operated at the Institute of Physics of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in Prague. Karel Pátek (5. 5. 1927 - 25. 11. 1967), a distinguished research scientist working at the Department of Luminescence of the Institute, registered 1.06-μm laser action in an optically-pumped Nd:glass rod on 9 April 1963. Pátek's group studied a variety of different Nd3+ doped glasses using a number of experimental and theoretical techniques and, together with Jaroslav Pantoflíček at Charles University in Prague, obtained some valuable results in this area., První plně funkční protyp laseru byl v našich zemích vyvinut a uveden do provozu v dubnu 1963 ve Fyzikálním ústavu ČSAV díky Karlu Pátkovi (5. 5. 1927 - 25. 11. 1967), významnému badateli v oboru luminiscence pevných látek. V této stati představíme zmíněný laser a seznámíme čtenáře s pozoruhodným životem a dílem jeho konstruktéra., Luděk Vyšín, Libor Juha., and Obsahuje bibliografii
