The paper aims at a clarification of Frege’s antipsychologism. It analyses Frege’s putting into opposition of logic/mathematics and psychology. It then investigates the historical roots of Frege’s views in Kant’s Critique of Pure Reason and in J. Müller’s and H. von Helmholtz’s physiological psychology. It explicates also how the opposition between Frege’s (third) realm of thoughts and that of representations is rooted in the opposition of a transcendentally understood subject (consciousness) and a naturalistic understanding of an empirical subject (consciousness), as well as its implications in the philosophy of logical positivism/empiricism. Finally, by drawing on Habermas’ linguistico-pragmatically grounded understanding of the lifeworld it shows how that opposition can be overcome and how to understand Frege’s realm of thoughts, Příspěvek se zaměřuje na objasnění Fregeho antipsychologismu. Analyzuje Fregeho uvedení do opozice logiky / matematiky a psychologie. To pak zkoumá historické kořeny Fregeových pohledů v Kantově kritice čistého rozumua v fyziologické psychologii J. Müllera a H. von Helmholtze.
The article shows the positions philosophers held to the relationship between a priori judgments and those judgments which are valid necessarily. Enlightenment philosophers of the 18th and 19th century, who, though often in different ways, opposed the concept of metaphysics and scholastic necessity (Hume, Kant, Mill, idealists), play the leading role. At the beginning of the 20th century analytic philosophy was born. Its first leaders inherited from their predecessors an antipathy to metaphysics, and so they had no desire to return again to the traditional concept of necessity (Wittgenstein, Carnap, Ayer). Their logic and the new characterization of the a priori paved the way for the linguistic turn. Some of their followers in the second half of the 20th century realized that the concept needed to be returned to its original meaning (Kripke). This is not a mere repetition of the Aristotelian-scholastic conception, but a new addition that rethinks the relationship between the notions of a priori and necessity, Článek ukazuje postoje filozofů k vztahu mezi a priori rozsudky a rozsudky, které jsou nezbytně nutné. Vůdčí roli hrají osvícenští filosofové 18. a 19. století, kteří, i když často různými způsoby, vystupují proti pojetí metafyziky a scholastické potřeby (Hume, Kant, Mill, idealisté).
This paper focuses on the roots of a functional theory of predication, which is represented primarly by Frege and Russell. After a brief presentation of the theory of Frege, I concentrate on the philosophical motivation of this theory. The example of the influence of F. H. Bradley on Russell’s conception of the categorical judgements shows a common epistemological position of both authors, which I recognize also in Frege. The point of the article is to find common grounds in Kant noetics, especially in his conception of synthetic judgement. Replacement of the problematic Kant’s notion of transcendental schema by the functional application subsequently allowed flourishing of the theory. In conclusion, I outline potential problems associated with the challenge of philosophical assumptions on which this theory is based., Příspěvek se zaměřuje na kořeny funkční teorie predikce, kterou reprezentují především Frege a Russell.
Ever since Strawson’s The Bounds of Sense, the transcendental apperception device has become a theoretical reference point to shed light on the criterionless self-ascription form of mental states, reformulating a contemporary theoretical place tackled for the first time in explicit terms by Wittgenstein’s Blue Book. By investigating thoroughly some elements of the critical system the issue of the identification of the transcendental subject with reference to the I think will be singled out. In this respect, the debate presents at least two diametrically opposed attitudes: the first – exemplified in the works by Hacker, Becker, Sturma and McDowell – considers the features of the I think according to Wittgenstein’s approach to the I as subject while the second, exemplified by Kitcher and Carl, criticizes the various commentators who turn to Wittgenstein in order to interpret Kant’s I think. The hypothesis that I will attempt at articulating in this paper starts off not only from the transcendental apperception form, but also from the characterizations of empirical apperception. It may be assumed that Kant’s reflection on the problem of self-identification lies right here, truly prefiguring some features of Wittgenstein’s uses of I, albeit from different metaphysical assumptions and philosophical horizons., Od té doby, co se Strawson's The Bounds of Sense , transcendentální apercepční zařízení stalo teoretickým referenčním bodem, který vrhl světlo na nekritickou sampodepsanou formu mentálních stavů, přeformuloval současné teoretické místo, které bylo poprvé výslovně řečeno Wittgensteinovou Modrou knihou . Lze předpokládat, že Kantova úvaha o problému sebeidentifikace spočívá právě zde, skutečně předurčující některé rysy Wittgensteinova použití I , byť z různých metafyzických předpokladů a filosofických horizontů., and Luca Forgione
The aim of the paper is to study the analytical and the expressive boundaries of the language of physics. We try to bring these boundaries into a relation with Kant’s theory of antinomies of pure reason. It seems that Kant’s theory can be interpreted as the discovery of the expressive boundaries of the language of science. If this interpretation is tenable, Kant’s discovery is important for the contemporary philosophy of science., Cílem příspěvku je studium analytických a expresivních hranic jazyka fyziky.
This paper develops an account of judge-dependence, conceived of as a generalization of the better known notion of response-dependence. It then solves a number of problems for the view that aesthetic judgements are judge-dependent in this sense. Finally, a parallel case for the judge-dependence of moral judgement is assessed.
