The paper presents the results of geodyn amic research in the fram e of the project COST 625 relating to active tectonic structures’ monitoring on the selected areas in Poland, Italy and Greece. Research was realised using a self-developed control and measurement system. The resu lts of researches for period 2000-2006 indi cate slight movements of observatio n points in the Sudety Mts. reaching several millimetres. However, the results confirm recent mobility of tectonic structures o f this area. Research realised in the Mediterranean Region objects - Gargano, Norcia (Italy) and Kaparelli (Greece) - indicate movements of observation points reaching over a dozen millimetres, particularly on the Gargano area. The velocities of the Global Positioning System (GPS) stations are widely employed for numerous geodynamical studies. The aim of this paper is to investigate the reliability of station velocities and to draw reader’s attention that for proper estimates of velocity, we need to consider the optimal character of noise. We focus on a set of 115 European GPS stations which contributed to the newest release of the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF), i.e. ITRF2014. Based on stacked Power Spectral Densities (PSDs), we show that amplitudes o f seasonal signals are significant for nine harmonics of tropical year (365.25 days) and two harmonics of draconitic year (351.60 days). The amplitudes of tropical annual signal fall between 0.1-8.4 mm and are much higher for vertical component than for horizontal. Draconitic annual signal reaches the maximum amplitudes of 1.2 and 0.9 mm for North and East, respectively, whereas is slightly higher for the Up component with a maximum of 3.1 mm. We performed a noise analysis with Maximum Like lihood Estimation (MLE) and found that stations in Central and Northern Europe are characterized by spectral index between flicker and random-walk noise, while stations in Southern and Western Europe: between white and flicker noise. Both amplitudes and spectral indices of power-law noise show a spatial correlation for Up component. We compared the uncertainties of velocities derived in this study with a combination of power-law and white noises to the ones offici ally released in the ITRF2014 with a pure white noise. A ratio of the two estimates is larger than 10 for 13 % and 30 % of stations in horizontal and vertical direction, respectively with medians of 6 and 7. Since October 2011, the Russian GLObal NAvigation Satellite System (GLONASS) has been revitalized and is now fully operational with 24 satellites in orbit. It is critical to assess the benefits and problems of using GLONASS observations (i.e. GLONASS-only or combined Global Positioning System (GPS) and GLONASS) for precise positioning and zenith total delay (ZTD) retrieval on a global scale using precise point positioning (PPP) technique. In this contribution, extensive evaluations are conducted with Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) data sets collected from 251 globally distributed stations of the International GNSS Service (IGS) network in July 2016. The stations are divided into 30 groups by antenna/radome types to investigate whether there are ante nna/radome-dependent biases in position and ZTD derived from GLONASS-only PPP. The positioning results do not show obvious antenna/radome-dependent biases except the stations with JAV_RINGANT_G3T/NONE. For these stations, the averaged biases in horizontal component, especially in the north component, can achieve as high as -9.0 mm. The standard de viation (STD) and root mean square (RMS) are used as indicators of positioning repeatability and accuracy, respectively. The averaged horizontal STD and RMS of GLONASS-only PPP are comparable to GPS-only PPP, while in vertical component, those for GLONASS-only P PP are larger. Furthermore, the STD and RMS of GPS+GLONASS combined PPP solutions are the smallest in horizontal and vertical components, indicating that adding GLONASS observations can achieve better positioning performance than GPS-only PPP. With the IGS final ZTD as reference, we find that ZTD biases and accuracy of GLONASS-only are latitude - and antenna/radome-independent. The ZTD accuracy of GLONASS-only PPP is slightly worse than that of GPS-only PPP. The Institute of the Rock Structure and Mechanics AS CR operates the GEONAS network that now consists of 17 perm anent GPS observatories. The outliers and in consistencies occur within the time series observed in the winter season 200 5/2006 for the position of the GNSS antennas of the observatories SNEC and BISK located high in the m ountains, at th e Sněžka Mt. (1602 m, the Giant Mts.) and the Biskupská kupa Mt. (890 m, the Jeseníky Mts.) respectively. Therefore web cameras and meteorological sensors were in stalled at GEONAS observatories located in the mountain regions. The snow coverage and other meteorological influences affecti ng the antennas monitoring GPS signals at these observatories were estimated. The article deals with estimating deformation between the African and the Eurasian Plate in the Eastern Mediterranean on the basis of GPS coordinate time series. Two sources of velocities were used for processing. The first was the freely available site velocities from the European Permanent Network (EPN). The second was the Egyptian GPS permanent network velocities. Their values were determined by the following technique. Firstly, the Egyptian site coordinates were computed from GPS daily observations, using the fiducial EPN stations. The daily site coordinates at a given time interval result in coordinate time series, which were analysed and used on velocity estimation of the Egyptian stations. Then the apparatus of the mechanics of continuum was applied to all resultant velocities. The regions of possible mutual interactions between the Eurasian and the African Plate in the Eastern Mediterranean were detected. The basic idea of this contribution is the common processing of GPS daily measurements from the Egyptian permanent network together with the EPN data. The available Egyptian GPS data cover almost the last three years, which represents a sufficient time interval for velocity estimation. We estimated the common seasonal signal (annual oscillation) included in the Global Positioning System (GPS) vertical position time series by using Multichannel Singular Spectrum Analysis (MSSA). We employed time series from 24 International GNSS Service (IGS) stations located in Europe which contributed to the newest ITRF 2014 (International Terrestrial Reference Frame). The MSSA method has an advantage over the traditional modelling of seasonal signals by the Least-Squares Estimation (LSE) and Singular Spectrum Analysis (SSA) approaches because it can extract time-varying and common seasonal oscillations for stations located in the considered area. Having estimated the annual curve with LSE, we may make a misfit of 3 mm when a peak-to-peak variations of seasonal si gnals are to be estimated due to the time-variability of seasonal signal. A variance of data modelled as annual signal with SSA and MSSA differs of 3 % at average what proves that the MSSA-curves contain only time-varying and common seasonal signal and leave the station-specific part, local phenomena and power-law noise intact. In contrast to MSSA, these effects are modelled by SSA. Metamorphic phenomena formed geological and tectonical structure of the Śnieżnik Kłodzki Massif, Kłodzko Valley, SW Poland. In 1992 twenty seven points of local geodynamical network were founded for determination the Śnieżnik Massif crust activity. Points of this network were located in Czech and Polish sides of the Massif. Researches were provided by repeated periodic satellite GPS measurements, total station, gravimetric, clinometric and crack gauges observations and precise levelling technique. Śnieżnik Massif is crossed by the section of tectonic faults zone in direction NW-SE. Several transverse faults are located near the major tectonic zone. In the contribution geological structure and geophysical data along the northern part of the Diendorf-Čebín tectonic zone (DCTZ) is analyzed in relation to the position of the measured GPS test areas and precise levelling profiles. For this purposes the former geophysical data have been reambulated and analyzed, too. Revision of geological knowledge and sources has been done in places of the proposed polygons. The results of reinterpretation of the Grav/Mag data and selected seismic reflection profiles suggest new possibilities and variety of structural interpretations of this tectonic zone. It is evident that the whole tectonic system has undergone complicated tectonic development during the Paleogene and Neogene. Presently the determination of the velocity field in the global reference frame is possible by using different space techniques and dense terrestrial networks from global to local and regional scales. However, the reliability of such determinations is strongly limited by the restricted number of unmodeled effects. Some of them are periodic (atmospheric or hydrological effects), some instantaneous (natural or man-made seismicity ) or seasons-related (snow cover, freezing). This elaboration deals with the unmodeled effects observed in the ASG-EUPOS (Polish Active Geodetic Network) time series. The whole network consists of over 130 permanent GNSS sites with different levels of stability. The paper presents the analysis of 3-year’s time-series of geodetic coordinates (in the topocentric projection) in order to obtain best-possible local velocity field. On the example of the Sudeten region, where 19 sites are located, the possible effects on the decrease in reliability of the velocity field determination are described. In the article the results of repeated satellite positional measurements of station VYHL of the Sněžník Network over period 1994-2006 are presented. Altogether 17 Brno University of Technology measuring campaigns were carried out and evaluated. The observation data (acquired mostly with Leica GPS receivers) were processed with the scientific Bernese GPS Software and the commercial Leica SKI-Pro software packets. Unified procedure for campaign data processing including the alignement of the resulting positions to respective EUREF Permanent Network weekly solutions had been adopted. Only the stability in horizontal direction was analysed. Positional stability of the VYHL station was considered in respect to the surrounding IGS, EPN, and local stations which were used for a local reference frame definitions, at three different levels. First level information was obtained from relations to surrounding stations of the Sněžník Network in distances up to 10 km, second level represent the relations to nearest EPN stations in distances about 100 km, and finally third level represent the relations to surrounding IGS Network stations in distances about 300 - 400 km. Another approach to VYHL stability assessment was the an alysis of slope distances time series from VYHL to neighbouring GPS stations.
