Proto je feministická antropologie analyzovaná jako přístup, který v opozici k tradičnímu androcentrickému studiu člověka vnáší do vědy o kultuře „ženský hlas“ a genderovou perspektivu., The subject of this study is a theoretic analysis of feministic anthropology as a relatively autonomous research approach and an independent anthropological discipline. Special attention will be paid to evolutionary changes of feministic anthropology. The study aims at enhancing the use of gender approach when researching socio-cultural phenomena. That is why feministic anthropology is analysed as an approach which – as opposed to the traditional androcentric study of man – brings into cultural science a “woman’s voice” and gender point of view., Václav Soukup, and Literatura
Mezi hlavní léčebné strategie patří agresivní léčba relapsů (vysokodávkované steroidy či plazmaferéza) následované zahájením chronické terapie (mezi léky první volby dnes řadíme azathioprin a rituximab)., Neuromyelitis optica (NMO), also known as Devic‘s disease, is a devastating autoimmune disorder of the central nervous system and is clinically characterized by inflammation of the optic nerve, spinal cord, and, less frequently, brainstem. The discovery of antibodies against aquaporin‑4 (NMO‑IgG/AQP4-IgG) has definitively distinguished this disease from multiple sclerosis. AQP4-IgG testing is crucial in differential diagnosis that also includes magnetic resonance imaging of the brain and spinal cord. Typically, spinal cord lesions exceeding the length of three vertebral segments are found. Changes in magnetic resonance imaging of the brain do not exclude the diagnosis of NMO; by contrast, they are relatively common and are fairly typical. Optical coherence tomography provides important information, and quantifies the involvement of the retina and optic nerve. Neurologic deficit in this disease is a result of disease relapse, and it is therefore crucial to establish the diagnosis early and initiate an appropriate treatment that can change the unfavorable prognosis. The main therapeutic strategies include aggressive treatment of relapses (with high‑dose corticosteroids or plasmapheresis), followed by chronic therapy (first choice drugs include azathioprine and rituximab). Key words: neuromyelitis optica – autoantibodies against aquaporin-4 – neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders The authors declare they have no potential conflicts of interest concerning drugs, products, or services used in the study. The Editorial Board declares that the manuscript met the ICMJE “uniform requirements” for biomedical papers., and P. Nytrová, D. Horáková
Článek se zabývá masivním vymíráním tří druhů supů ( Gyps bengalensis , Gyps indicus , Gyps tenuirostris ) v jižní Asii. Drastický pokles početnosti supích populací začal v de vadesátých letech minulého století v d ůsledku zavedení nesteroidního protizánětlivého léčiva s n ázvem diclofenac do v eterinární medicíny. V č lánku je popsán mechanismus toxického účinku diclofenacu a t aké jsou zde vysvětleny příči- ny kontaminace supí potravy tímto přípravkem. Speciální pozornost je pak věnována diskusi možných následků vymírání supů jako je zvýšení početnosti populací zdivočelých psů, zvýšené riziko onemocnění lidí vzteklinou a vliv na pohřební rituály členů etnika Pársů., The article deals with massive mortality in three vulture species ( Gyps bengalensis , Gyps indicus , Gyps tenuirostris ) on the South Asian subcontinent, which started in the nineties of the last century. Accidental exposure of scavengers to diclofenac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), via their food chain is considered to be a scientifically proven reason for the decline of vulture population in India, Pakistan and Nepal. The mechanism of diclofenac toxicity is explained and the sources of diclofenac in vulture food resources are discussed. Special attention is paid to the explanation of possible consequences of vulture extinction as increase in abundance of dog popula- tion, increased number of rabies cases in man, effect on the burial customs of Parsi community., Miloslav Pouzar, and Literatura
