In this paper hydrological scenarios of changes in the long-term mean annual and the mean monthly runoff due to the climate change in the upper part of the Hron River basin were evaluated. The Hron river basin was selected as a representative mountainous basin in Central Slovakia. An empirical raster-based and a conceptual hydrological balance model were used for modelling changes in runoff with an annual and monthly time step. Both models were calibrated using data from a standard period 1951-1980, which is considered to be representative for the distribution of runoff in unchanged conditions. Four different climate change scenarios were used in the study. Two scenarios were downscaled from the outputs of the CCCM and GISS Global Circulation Models (GCMs), the others represent analogies with warmer climatic periods in the past. The runoff change scenarios developed for the upper Hron River basin for future time horizons 2010, 2030 and 2075 show the decrease in the long-term mean annual runoff and changes in the runoff distribution within the year. and V článku sú odvodené scenáre zmien dlhodobých priemerných ročných a priemerných mesačných prietokov, vyjadrujúce možný vplyv zmeny klímy na odtok v budúcnosti na povodí horného Hrona. Na modelovanie dlhodobých priemerných ročných prietokov bol použitý rastrovo-orientovaný empirický model hydrologickej bilancie, na modelovanie priemerných mesačných prietokov bol použitý koncepčný hydrologický bilančný model so sústredenými parametrami. Obidva modely boli kalibrované na údajoch z obdobia 1951-1980, ktoré sme považovali za reprezentatívne obdobie pre nezmenené podmienky hydrologického režimu. Ako scenáre zmeny klímy boli použité scenáre CCCM a GISS, regionalizované z najnovších výstupov globálnych cirkulačných modelov atmosféry, a scenáre SD a WP, vyvinuté v rámci Národného klimatického programu SR na základe analógie s teplými obdobiami v minulosti u nás. Scenáre zmeny odtoku, odvodené pre časové horizonty 2010, 2030 a 2075 ukazujú možný pokles dlhodobých priemerných ročných prietokov, ako aj zmenu priemerných mesačných prietokov na povodí horného Hrona v budúcnosti.
My aim is to show that once we appreciate how Searle (1958) fills in the details of his account of proper names - which I will dub the presuppositional view - and how we might supplement it further, we are in for a twofold discovery. First, Searle’s account is crucially unlike the so-called cluster-of-descriptions view, which many philosophers take Searle to have held. Second, the presuppositional view he did hold is interesting, plausible, and worthy of serious reconsideration. Searle’s conception of ontological emergence is a basis for his explanation of mind and consciousness in the physical world. In this article, I try to show that a closer examination uncovers some possible ambiguities in Searle’s conception of emergence. First, I try to show that Searle’s distinction between emergent1 and emergent2 leads to a distinction between a strong and a weak interpretation of a causal consequence of interactions among constitutive entities and that from this point of view the existence of emergent2 is improbable only in the strong sense. Second, I attempt to clarify Searle’s distinction between explanation and deduction of consciousness in his claim for the non-deducibility of consciousness . At the end I try to show in what sense is Searle’s concept of emergence loaded with a form of mechanicism, one which is being abandoned in more recent ontological conceptions., Searleovo pojetí ontologického vzestupu je základem pro jeho vysvětlení mysli a vědomí ve fyzickém světě. In the paper, I question some of the claims professor Searle makes about external realism, a position I accept. I briefly sum up Searle’s position, and then proceed to the mentioned critique. In particular, the target of my paper is Searle’s claim that external realist is to shun commitment to any particular ontology. I also point out that Searle’s external realism is in some respects difficult to disentangle from ontological constructivism, a position incompatible with external realism. The main aim of this paper is to survey and evaluate Searle’s account of metaphor (1979) in the light of Davidson’s arguments against the idea of metaphorical meaning, which appeared at roughly the same time. Since this paper is intended for a festschrift celebrating Searle’s respectable anniversary, I will mostly refrain from critical remarks and rather focus on the positive aspects of his account. There is no unique idea regarding the form of the (Intentional) content part of visual experience in the specification. The philosophers’ approaches diverge as to whether the content of visual experience is equivalent to a sentence expressing proposition or not. Some of them (mainly philosophers from the phenomenological tradition) consider that one must use a proposition for the specification of the content only when the subject, while having a visual experience, exercise a concept or judge. For the other cases, which can be called simple seeing, a noun phrase is preferable. I argue that, holding that the specification of Intentional content of the visual experience should be in the form of a proposition, John Searle gives up the first-person Intentionality and therefore bypasses the first-person important distinction between simple seeing and judgmental seeing. The specification of the content only in the form of the proposition does not allow making such a distinction on the level of description. We believe that all fictions arise as imitations of authentic representation: a fictional photograph imitates a documentary photograph that is the image captured with the help of photographic film or digital media. A fictional film imitates real people and real events recorded on a camera. Fictional film characters only exist, because the film-makers pretend that they have documented them. The paper argues in favour of the Searlean internalist way of construing the content of thoughts and communicative acts. As interpreted by the author, it reflects the participation of external factors in the determination of content (stressed by externalists like Burge, Putnam, Kripke and Davidson) but it does so in a way which enables to approach the thinking and communicating individual as a real subject of his acts. The crucial move is to incorporate the individual’s reliance on the relevant parameters of his physical or social environment into the construal of the content itself. Then the external factors can be treated as exploited by the individual himself in the articulation of his acts, rather than as intervening into the content through the gaps marked by indexicals, proper names, natural kind terms or concepts borrowed from the communal repertoire. Nine years of seasonal δ18O values in precipitation, soilwater and groundwater were evaluated in the Uhlířská catchment between 2008 and 2016 and recharge winter/summer ratios were calculated using δ18O values. The longterm average 18O content in groundwater is lower than the mean weighted 18O content in precipitation. This is explained by more than 50% of winter- and snowmelt- induced groundwater recharge that occurs in all years except of 2010 and 2013. The recharge of the peat organic soil water is balanced between summer and winter, whereas the mineral hillslope soil is dominantly recharged by summer precipitation. The 67% portion of baseflow, dominantly generated in the winter season, is composed of groundwater and peat organic soil water, according to the hydrochemical distribution of runoff components. Isotopic mass balance of individual winters shows that precipitation in warmer winters is entirely transformed into outflow until the end of the winter season, generating no significant water storage for potential drought periods.
