Caldenal tvoří společenstva semiaridních lesů subtropického až mírného pásu střední Argentiny s dominantním druhem Prosopis caldenia. Od počátku 20. stol. byla značně exploatována kácením a využívána pro pastvu dobytka. Oheň, který zde byl přirozeným a nyní je i umělým činitelem, zásadně ovlivňuje obnovu caldenalu. Článek přináší základní údaje o tomto společenstvu a vlivu pastvy i ohně na jeho strukturu a biodiverzitu. and Caldenal is a semi-arid forest ecosystem in subtropical and temperate regions of Central Argentina, dominated by Prosopis caldenia. Since the beginning of the 20th century, Caldenal has been affected by wood harvesting and livestock grazing. Fires, both accidental and intentional, have played a key role in Caldenal regeneration. This paper describes the characteristics of these forests and addresses the effect of grazing and fire on their structure and biodiversity.
Kdyby nebylo popularizátorů, pak bychom kromě úzké vědecké komunity věděli o vědě, vědcích a smyslu jejich práce velmi málo. Pokud sem tam uniknou mimo jejich společnost nějaké informace o výzkumech a pokusech zdařených i nezdařených, bývají strohé a laikům nesrozumitelné. Tudíž nevědcům je třeba je ozřejmit, jaksi polidštit. A zde nastupují populátoři vědy, lidé vládnoucí mistrnou schopností přenést do veřejnosti - ne úplně laické - to, nač vědci myslí, co tvoří a vůbec, čím se zabývají a jací jsou. Pokud nahlédneme do dějin přírodních věd, zjistíme, že jako první byla popularizována astronomie. Stalo se tak především zásluhou francouzského astronoma Nicolase Camille Flammariona., This contribution describes the life and the work of French astronomer and writer Camille Flammarion. He is well known as a pioneer in science (esp. astronomy) popularization. The introductory part of this article sheds light on Flammarion‘s professional career in the Paris Observatory and in the Bureau of Measures. The central part of the article overviews Flammarion‘s popularization work, including writing books, giving public lectures, editing several journals, and so on. Flammarion‘s views on a calendar reformation are also discussed. Článek popisuje exkurzi do reintrodukční stanice lysek hřebenatých (Fulica cristata) v blízkosti národního parku Coto Doñana, Andalusie. Lyska hřebenatá patří k přísně chráněným druhům, jejichž hlavní oblast rozšíření je v západní Africe. V Evropě je možno ji zastihnout na několika lokalitách středozemního pobřeží Španělska. Hlavní příčinou ohrožení druhu je záměna s lyskou černou (Fulica atra) při lovení a ztráta původního habitatu. and The article describes a trip to the Crested Coot (Fulica cristata) reintroduction station in Andalusia, Spain. The Crested Coot is a protected species with the main distribution range in Western Africa. In Europe it can be met at a few localities on the Mediterranean coast of Spain. The main threat to the species is habitat loss and confusion with Eurasian Coot (F. atra) during hunting.
A large number of songs have been preserved in the Strahov Codex (ca. 1465/67-1470), an important collection of polyphony from the latter half of the fifteenth century. These songs were once generally regarded as cantiones in Latin or as instrumental compositions, but a detailed study of this repertoire shows that the manuscript is an important source of secular compositions, and especially of chansons. Most of these songs have been preserved only in this manuscript.
